1.) Connect your iPhone to your pc and start iTunes

2.) Restore your iPhone to firmware 1.1.1. This wont mess up your already upgraded baseband, so don't worry. You probably have to use iBrickr to reboot the phone to leave restore mode.

3.) After restore finished use the well known dev-team method to jailbreak/activate the iPhone. You wont get any carrier signal while running 1.1.1. Don't worry, this is to be expected. Make sure you set your access point or router that way, that your iPhone always gets the same IP address. Write the IP address down after the activation, you'll need it again some time later!
    Hi !

    I am stuck here,
do you really mean to RESTORE to 1.1.1, not to UPDATE to 1.1.1 after preparing it for activation Jailbreak ?!
If YES, then could you please point me to the "well known method" to activate and jailbreak the 1.1.1 then ?
All methods i found want to downgrade to 1.0.2 which doesnt seem to make sense since i just left 1.0.2 in the step before, right ?

Meanwhile i TRIED those methods that go back to 1.02 to prepare and to go to 1.1.1 but i always get an error 1015.

So i can either get from 1.0.2 to a 1.1.1 that i cannot jailbreak/activate ( cannot find the "well known" method or i fail to do the methods that i found ( all requiring to go back to 1.0.2 and to do the symlink thingy ).

    Meaning: HEEEEEEEELLLLPPP :-)

get your phone out of the recovery mode with iBricks.
The WELL KNOWN Methods are the "*#307#" calling procedure, making contacts and usinf the TIFF exploit on 1.1.1 --> jailbreakme.com worked fine for me.

THANKS for the great guide, worked perfectly for a virgin US phone 1.1.1.
    I'm from germany using Vodafone.

    @marcosmh:
i had the same problem when suddenly my 1.1.1 shows up in itune with 300mb problem. I just tried to update to 1.1.2 ... after updating jailbreak1.1.2 said theres no oktoprep.
Restoring to 1.1.1, again jailbreak and set up oktoprep new lead to a normal 7.27GB phone in itunes. After that everything worked fine. good luck

Just for the records, I went straight from my unlocked (anySIM 1.1.1) firmware 1.1.1 iPhone into the unlocked 1.1.2 I'm using now. I decided to take the risk and go directly without any downgradind and all that jazz. I did this in the following order:

    1. took my 1.1.1 phone and in the installer I installed the Oktoprep program.
    2. connected to iTunes and did Shift - Update (not shift - restore!)
    3. used the 1.1.2 file, previously downloaded.
    4. used the jailbreaker 1.1.2 file (the java one) and I checked the ssh option
    5. connected with sftp to the iPhone that was already connecting to my wifi spot... update did not touch all that configuration I guess.
    6. downloaded /usr/libexec/lockdownd... patched it ... and then uploaded it back with the same sftp session... overwriting the file with sftp ensures that permissions will remain intact.
    7. restarted (and then it restarted alone) and my phone was activated!
    8. installed BSD
    9. with sftp I uploaded to my iPhone the content of anySIM 1.1.2p
    10. with ssh to my iPhone checked for permissions in the anySIM folder
    11. reboot
    12. ran anySIM and voilà! unlocked and jailbroken! even iBrickr connects to my iPhone!

    Farewell 1.1.1.... most welcome 1.1.2!

Many thanks to all devs over there, both the elite and the dev teams. You should follow one of my preferred phrases from the liberator Simon Bolivar: "En la unión está la fuerza".

Nice thing I noticed, Orange France is going to use IMAP for their visual voicemail thing... you can check /System/Library/Framework/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/Orange_France.plist
I guess it will be easy to reverse eng that so as to install your own imap vvm server? who knows?

    A+,

    Gusano.

what can I do to get a signal?
Probably the file got messed up during the upload?
And did you verify that you indeed have the correct baseband running after all the downgrades to 1.0.2?

There is a sticky thread about jailbreaking/activating 1.1.1 iPhones without the need of doing a downgrade to 1.0.2 again.

Meanwhile i TRIED those methods that go back to 1.02 to prepare and to go to 1.1.1 but i always get an error 1015.

That's what iBrickr is for in this guide. You can get your iPhone out of the DFU mode with iBrickr by rebooting the phone with it. When rebooting you should have a red screen on your iPhone. If it's green, redo the restore again.
Did that several times myself until i finally succeded.

After running oktoprep and upgrading to 1.1.2 it should go straight to the activation screen, it did with my iPhone. Probably something got messed up during the whole process. Best bet would be to start all over (revirginize to 1.0.2 like in the thread i linked for the downgrade-pack) again.

i think the oktoprep doesn´t work

im come from of a 1.0.2 system version mixed with a 1.1.2 modem version fully unlocked, the phone works !!

some welp would be great XD tnx a lot

EDITED: obviously i installed oktoprep in 1.1.1 not in 1.0.2 XD
To me it looks like oktoprep isn't the problem here. If it was you would get another message like "This system has to be prepared with oktoprep before running the jailbreak.
In addition i don't have a Mac, so i cannot duplicate the necessary steps on a Mac. Sorry.

    Hello,

    - Did the oktoprep and upgrade to 1.1.2
    - Replaced lockdownd with the one suggested in this thread
*** no joy- jailbroken and activated but no signal ***
    - Ran Iasign using my phones info using lockdownd original 1.1.2 and also tried using the patched version in this thread
*** no joy- still no signal ***

    - tried lockdownd from the elite team
    - WORKED!!!

Now have 1.1.2 fully unlocked, non-numeric SMS received fine, all functions fine, no lockups, very happy

    So, can confirm the following:

    - IPSF 1.7 survives the upgrade (sorry again, same excuse, I use anysim on my phones, have donated, thanks guys for sterling work)
    - Best use the patched 1.1.2 lockdownd file rather than the patched 1.1.1 lockdownd file suggested on this thread (do a search guys, it's easy enough to find)
    - I'm on voda UK, so no need for me to alter any other files!

The only question... will my phone still work outside the UK given that I have not edited the unknowncarrier.plist or the appsupport files if I stick with a UK SIM??

PS See that thumbs up thingy over on the left... try pressing it ;-)
I have an 1.1.1 iPhone unlocked with IPSF 1.6. Perhaps jou can be a little more detailed with your description? I would like to do the jailbreak on my mac...

    Thanks and greetings,

    Urkman

    Hi again !

hmmm, i also found the 307 method and i guessed that this is the "well known" method, BUT:
Whenever i get to the "Install Appsnap" point, my phone just returns to the "activate with itunes" screen, thats why i THEN tried the older methods that require downgrading to 1.0.2 ...

So thats my real problem the 307 method doesn't work as expected for me :-(
Could it be a problem with my 1.1.1 image ? May it be a version that is fixed by apple ?
If so, do you have a md5sum and or link to the *good* 1.1.1 image ?

    Thanks again,

    Ender
