Return your OOB 1.1.2 iPhones while you still can
An unlock method is looking pretty dismal as of now. I just got return labels for my 4 OOB 1.1.2 iPhones for a full refund and I suggest anyone else to do the same. Apple has extended their return policy for the holidays so even if it's been past 14 days you still have a shot.
Remember, if a software unlock becomes available, all you have to do is buy the iPhones again. No big deal.

Word.
On one hand, it's nice to hold the phones because you never know - there may be a good software (non hack your SIM) strategy available sooner or later.
On the other hand, it's $1600 in iPod touches if you have 4 phones right now.
I agree with your assessment though - not worth the carrying. Return them, get your money, be happy. If an unlock comes out, you can always walk into Apple or AT&T and buy more.

However... keep in mind that if 1.1.3 gets here the unlock will be for those with 1.1.2
You will need to get a 1.1.2 iPhone which may or not be difficult to get.
You can also get a TurboSim which will work perfectly with your OTB iPhone (altough spending $100+ extra may not be for everyone).

Good point, but I don't think it's worth risking $1700 over ya know? Still, you do have a good point. I didn't think of that.

Well if you are in Europe, then the cheapest iPhone you can get is 650 eur, if you get one from US you get it for 270 eur ($400), adding the 70 eur (turbosim+shipping) makes it a 340 eur phone so you could basically get 2 for one

As discussed here and other places, the TurboSIM solution is easily broken by Apple in a 1.1.3 update.
Some were surprised that Apple allowed TurboSIM use to continue in 1.1.2. It's apparently trivial for them to detect the TurboSIM and lock the phone.

You have obviously been very ignorant in this forum if you really think it's that easy.
