    why not just delete sms.db with the finder app. it is only your sms messages

    Default You don't need to delete all your SMSs to fix the crash...

    Just to make it clear for people on this thread, you don't need to delete all your SMSs to fix this crash. You can copy the sms.db to your computer and edit it with a DB Editor and just delete the SMS that is causing the problem, then copy the db file back.

    yeah, and since this topic came about I was thinking of a method to backup sms-es and restore them on the go just in case sms.app crashes.

    What i did is use MobileFinder to send the sms.db to my email before erase it.
    Then fix it later whenever I can use db deitor on my laptop or desktop.

    sqlite if u are using windows

    Download sqlite here.

    copy out my sms.db file. It is in SQLite format .. remove the problematic SMS using SQLite.

    Then ...

    C:\Documents and Settings\####\Desktop>sqlite3.exe sms.db
    SQLite version 3.4.2
    Enter ".help" for instructions
    sqlite> select * from message;
    .
    .
    .
    15|+?|1190910722|The SMS-OTP is ####-######## for login to UOB Personal Internet Banking. Enter this SMS-OTP by 12:42AM 28-Sep-2007 Singapore Time. Thank You.|

    sqlite> delete from message where rowid=15;

    Copy sms.db back to the iPhone /var/root/Library/SMS folder.
    iPhone works normally now!
