I bought refurbished iPhone (4GB) - 7R7310RQVR0.
When I power it on, I can see springboard and message: No SIM card installed

Phone's version is: Version 04.01.13_G ( I checked by dialing *3001#12345#*)

When I put my SIM card it says Different SIM detected
Please connect to iTunes

How should I unlock it? Is ZiPhone safe?
My concern is that someone was playing with a phone before, and I don't know at which stage phone is. Is there a way to check it?

Before you decide to unlock, you need to decide what service provider you want.

If you have an AT&T account you can activate through iTunes without unlocking.

I think his "P.S." comment about wanting to use it in Europe (even though ATT currently) might mean he wants to use cheaper European SIM cards instead of roaming. I use Kyivstar when I am in Ukraine and Tele2 in Latvia for example, even though I am an ATT/Cingular user in the US. It avoids nasty roaming charges...

But, madrich, how can I activate it through iTunes (without signing a contract, of course)? If I do so, would I be still able to unlock it?

nobody sent me a memo on this lol anyways if he wants to not downgrade bootloaders then maybe he should use indepence if he has a mac?

You can go contract, or prepaid (fail the credit check), you can unlock later.
