when I do this - it asks whether I want to overwrite a file
I click Yes

You shouldn't have restarted without renaming the files back. That is you should have continued without restarting:
6.9 [In winSCP] rename lockdownd to lockdownd.1.0.2 using WinSCP (This is in /usr/libexec)
6.10 [In winSCP] rename lockdownd.swap to lockdownd using WinSCP (This is in /usr/libexec)
6.11 [In winSCP] Repeat go to Commands->Open Terminal (or just press Control+T). Enter command: killall lockdownd . Click Execute.

Connect again with WinSCP.
Do 6.9,6.10,6.11.
If it doesn't activate then do from 6.3 BUT Rename the file called lockdownd on your /usr/libexec folder to lockdownd.SWAP
till 6.11 again without restarting.

killall lockdownd threw no such process error.. I proceeded with a restart and i got a message "ACTIVATION DONE" that goes to say you may not get activation done message right away

I am planning on automating the whole computer process (phone process will remain) thru a gui or batch files.. Anybody already doing this?

Also I am doing it for the 4rd time (though I should be sleeping) and I just made a change to the tutorial:

I put that THEN CLIK CLOSE in RED because I did killall lockdown and waslooking at the iphone screen waiting for the Activation message. Waiting..waiting.. Then I CLICKED CLOSE in the command message in WinSCP. And at that moment the "Your iphone is Activated" appeared.
Maybe it was just a coincidence.

I don't know what to tell you know. Do you have another SIM card with you?

Also: Blanked Out was the message from the programs or it means you deleted it when you copy&paste?
