Really BIG problem!!!! IPhone dead?????
The problem has escalated (a think as far as it can go) since I opened the last thread (regardind virginising a 1.1.1 iphone).
So i thought I should open this new one so that everybody is aware of what has happened and hopefully find a solution for me and everybody that ran accross it in the future....
Here how the story goes....
I received my new 8gb iphone on Wednesday, and proceed to unlocking it using this method.
At the end I forgot to ran the lockdown file and when I inserted my sim i got the error message (invalid sim). So I rerun anySIm and this time I had a message that anysim cannot unlock my phone.
I restored the phone to 1.1.1 and tried again, this time using the ibrickr function to "free the iphone". I got a blue screen with lots of data and eventually the procedure got frozen at one point. So I re-restored the iphone and did the first procedure (1.1.1 ->1.0.2->unlock) again. Received the same message from anysim (cannot unlock my phone) and I got stuck there and post the thread for virginising the 1.1.1 phone.
AT some point I realised that I didn't use the lockdown in the first place as I was supposed to do and decided to do it..
And voila!!!!!! the iphone was unlocked and I was able to use sim cards from 2 different providers...
I then wanted to install some applications so went on to install apptap installer from ibrickr applications menu. When i did it, instead of soft reset nothing happened. I tried again, nothing. So i tried to install it manually from the .exe file I had when i used carlos valdosta guide for virgin 1.0.2 phones. The application started ok, but at some point it froze. I waited a few minutes , nothing happened so i turned off the phone. When I turned it on, the yellow triangle screen came up and requested to connect to itunes.
Thats what I did. Itunes recognised the phone and instructed to do a restore. I first tried the "shift - restore" trick and tried to use the 1.02 firmware. Right after the unpacking I got an error: "iphone cannot be restored".
I then tried to do an online update to 1.1.1 firmware. I had an error message from Itunes stating that "itunes cannot find a connection to the internet" !!!!!!
That was VERY strange since my connection was on and running.
I downloaded the 1.1.1 firmware manually and tried to install it with the "shift - restore" method, but again after the unpacking i got the error message that iphone cannot be restored.
I uninstalled itunes reinstall it and tried again restoring (both manually and online), but again the same error messages. I then decided to update the itunes to 7.5 and do the restore to 1.1.1 cause i thought i might overcome the "itunes cannot conect to the internet" message.
I then uninstall itunes (and the folders in documents and settings folder) reinstall itunes 7.4.1 and tried, but this time the BIG BANG happened.
Iphone cannot be turned on (or at least the screen is blank and shows nothing) and the message I get from Itunes when I connect the iphone to the usb is
"ipod (!!!!) cannot be restored - error (6)"
A few minutes earlier i installed itunes to a different pc. This one recognise the connection as 'DFU something' in the beginning but then stated it cannot find a proper driver for the device and that it may not function properly.
PLEASE!!! any help is greatly needed because i think I am stuck with a real brick this time....
well, after holding home and power button for like 40sec did turn on the phone..
It shows the apple logo for 3-4 sec and then goes to the yellow triangle screen and asks to connect to the itunes...
Also I found out why I can't conect to this new pc...it doesn't have the win service pack 2 installed so itunes cannot recognise the iphone here...
So I will start trying things when I get back home....
