[Question] iPhone 2G f/w 1.11 Passcode locked - restore
Hi there, my iPhone 2G currently on f/w 1.11 is now ‘disabled’ as I changed the passcode and forgot it this morning, and I’ve guessed it wrong over 10 times now.
I did sync it last night on my laptop and when I connected it, iTunes recognises it as my old iPhone thankfully.
However, when I click restore, it says it will back up my sms messages, pictures and contacts which is all good (it will, right?) but it will also update the iPhone to firmware 2.2.1. If this happens, how can I unlock it (latest Ziphone or another program?) and will there be any issues?
Your help is so appreciated you won’t believe – thank you so much to anybody who replies me.

Is QuickPwn the latest one to use?
Thanks and sorry for my ignorance, I will donate to hackint0sh - seeing as I can't help with my knowledge!

Hi
The latest Quickpwn 225-2 can be found HERE
In regards to the password, restoring to 2.2.1 firmware will remove the lock down

Thanks, I've just done this: restored via iTunes to 2.2.1 (and it created a back-up), then I used Quickpwn and unlocked it - then restored the back-up - but that 'disables' the iPhone again!
Now it is disabled but in 2.2.1 I believe, how can I go about removing the passcode lock problem please but still have the data that is on the iPhone - should I now again Quickpwn it but not unlock this time?
Please let me know bro, you're a lifesaver.
Thanks.

Do it again, this time after using Quickpwn in iTunes check "setup as a new iPhone", dont use the old backup

Like volks says start from a new phone not from the backup
If you want your sms information you could try recovering it from the iTunes backup on my computer.

Such a program would be amazing to extract the data from the back-up, I'm unfortunately on Windows Vista and don't have a Mac, is it absolutely necessary I use one? If so, I will find a way.
A local computer / mobile phone guy quoted me £150 to do it all which is ridiculous but as a last resort, I'd do it because I need those contacts and SMS messages!
PS. How does one donate to Hackint0sh? There was a link at the top of the page which has disappeared? EDIT: Sorry ignore that I just saw your sig.
Thanks again so much - it's great to see that the internet is just as full of nice, kind, respectable people as it is of hateful ones!

OK, try this solution here.
Once this solution worked on your computer all the essential data from the old backup should be on your Windows PC in a format taht allows to put em back later on a clean restored iPhone at 2.2.1.
Give the solution a try and let us know about the files (filenames) you get. Should be something like AddressBook.sqlitedb, AddressBookImages.sqlitedb, sms.db, notes.db...
On the "setup as a new iPhone" then you would just use OpenSSH to put em back and voila, you get the data but the preferences that cause trouble (there are more than you just experienced) wont come back.
If you dont make it to get the solution up and running on your windows-PC send me a pm, we'll work out something.
