Default Question about Anysim unlock and non-changed IMEI...

    Hi all,

I successfully unlocked an NYC purchased pre-1.1.1 iPhone using Anysim, and have been using it faultlessly on the Orange network in the UK ever since - very pleased with it!

Maybe I've been reading the threads wrong, so this might be a moron question, but is the IMEI supposed to change with this method?

I've done the *#06# request and the phone reports the same IMEI as is engraved on the back of the handset. Is this normal, then?

    TIA

Read what he says It was a Pre-1.1.1. , meaning its 1.0.2.

And yes the imei should be the same as engraved on the back.

I believe what happens is if you try to re-lock your phone or restore the virgin baseband the firmware writes a default IMEI instead the actual IMEI of your phone, that is why even though people are virginizing their phones, the 1.1.1 update bricks them.
