    Default Providername missing

have UK 1.1.2 OOB with german Klarmobil (T-Mobile Reseller) SIM-Card and TurboSIM, and everything is working.

Problem: I can not see any providername, which should be Klarmobil. I think this happens because Klarmobil uses T-Mobile network. Even in the carrier list in the settings menu I can not see the T-Mobile network, only an empty line.

The phone is using the provider with the empty line and everything works well (SMS, EDGE, Call-in and Call-out, WLAN, Bluetooth).

Please check the pictures. I've used the search function and found the makeitmine.app and a manual how to change the default carrier pngs. But I think this would not fix my problem.

    no carrier name or logo

the empty line should be T-Mobile DE network.

    can you help?

want to add, that if I insert a Vodafon DE SIM with same TurboSIM the providername is correctly displayed... do I need to "teach" the iPhone to recognize the Klarmobil provider name? Isn't the provider name string saved on the SIM-Card?

This "failure" comes up with all German discount simcards.
But you don't have to worry about it. If you really need a provider name displayed use a sim from d1, d2, e+ or o2

He's looking for a fix. That's not a fix, man. That's running away from the problem.

    Lightbulb

    finally I've patched that bitch.

with this manual I've dumped my provider string:
    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showpost.php?p=129651

    # Framework CoreTelephony CTRegistrationCopyOperatorName >> /tmp/name.txt

the hex string for Klarmobile DE is 20 0D 0A where 0D 0A is only the CR added by Framework. As learned from the manual whitespaces have to removed, so my providerstring for the iphone exactly is 00 with the length 00

    then I've downloaded /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/SpringBoard
and opened in my favourite Hexeditor (HxD). Then I changed the Providerstring at 8d994 from at&t to hex 00 00 00 00 and the length variable on 9c834 from 04 to 00. Then saved patched SpringBoard to my PC, uploaded and stopped SpringBoard by executing

    # launchctl stop com.apple.SpringBoard

now my iphone displays the AT&T providerlogo instead for my Klarmobile SIM. My O2 - DE SIM is correctly displayed as O2 - DE text.

so now I can remove the FSO_CARRIER_ATT.png and upload my own Providerlogo with same name.

    it works great.

    Manual to be found here:

I hate them, EDGE menu disappeared now. OK, seems to have to do with the usage of my O2 DE card, which perhaps changed some Edge configuration - if I insert the O2 DE SIM again the EDGE Menu appears also - WTF?!? If I change back to my "unknown" Klarmobile it disappears. Last time I had to do a restore to 1.1.1 and update/jailbreak 1.1.2 for the menu to appear again...

[EDIT] OK, fixed the EDGE menu - it re appeared again. Since Klarmobil is using T-Mobile network I've gone to /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/ and downloaded TMobile_Germany.plist, there I had to add

    <key>AllowEDGEEditing</key>
    <true/>

thats all - the EDGE menu immediately appeared again. So now everything is fine

means: any cheap provider has length 0 - same for me with callmobile here in germany. therefore I suggested to take MAKE IT MINE...

    any questions?

    afaik you can also edit:
    /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.carrier.plist
    and add:
    <key>AllowEDGEEditing</key>
    <true/>
there. it seems its gonna be copied to the T-Mobile profile from there...

I have a iPhone 1.1.2 OTB, with TurboSIM and Carrier Callmobile... activate, jailbreak ..everything and TurboSIM etc. OK, BUT after a few minutes my carrier disappears and then iPhone says NO SIM....
I read somewhere that its something with EDGE or whatever ?!?!
Any ideas how to solve my problem ?
    cheers
