Problems with jailbreak.jar
First of all I have searched everywhere all day and finally I gave up and posted.
I just bought a 16GB iphone, and followed the iclarified guide. Everything went great, until updating to 1.1.2. I tried this on Mac and PC:
on mac (leopard) after the update I quit itunes, run jailbreak.jar and gives me the error: "this utility can only run if you have already oktoprep before updating to 1.1.2"
Of course I ran oktoprep, in fact I already did it 3 times, downgrading to 1.1.1.
I also tried on a win xp pc, ran the "windows.bat" and every time it does not find the phone.
I'm getting a little frustrated after the third time I downgrade, my question is: can I use other alternative to jailbreak 1.1.2? The phone looks like is fine, just can't pass this step, I have tried with two different Macs, usb ports and a pc.
Any comments, help or direction would be very appreciated.
I had a friend call me yesteday saying they were getting the same error message, even though they had run oktoprep.
They tried it on 3 different Macs.
In the end they came over to me.
I ran jailbreak.jar and it gave the same message, so I did the 1.1.1, oktoprep, 1.1.2 and then ran jailbreak.jar and it ran just fine on my Macbook.
All I know is that she was following instructions she had been given, and I just follow my own instructions.
I know that doesn't exactly answer your question.
thanks Mark, and what were your instructions if I may?
I'll try another pc and another cable...
i have the same problem too. a box will pop out saying :
the utility can only be used if you have already run OktoPrep before updating 1.1.2
but i m sure i have done it bez befor i update to 1.1.2 from itune i checked to see if i have the 300mb bug and to make sure i did install it from the uninstall list and it was there
Got it fixed ....
When beginning upgrading to 1.1.2, make sure you press Shift + Update, not Shift + Restore. But be very careful, if you just press Update you're screwed (it will update to 1.1.3 instead of presenting the file dialog where you can select the firmware).
I knew that was the issue...
Most people hit shit restore..
