I have a problem with my iPhone that I hope you guys can help me out.
I bought an unlocked iPhone without any SIM card (I am not in US, and I just want to play around with the iPhone and not to make any phone call). I made a huge mistake by using the restoring feature in iPhone to upgrade it to 1.1.4. Error message, as most of you might already guessed: "The iphone cannot be used with itunes because the SIM card is PIN locked or not installed. You must enter your sim pin or your sim car into your iphone in order to activate it".

Now my iPhone is bricked, I looked around for similar problem threads and have found several solutions. The problem is that I can not call the emergency because there is no SIM card, so I could not use their methods. I tried to press Home and Sleep/wake button at the same time for 10 seconds to enter recovery mode but apparently it's still the same. Any pointer to what I can do now to repair my iPhone? Can I just borrow a regular SIM card from a friend? Thanks a million times.

you should be able to download iLiberty and put it into dfu mode. Then restore to 1.1.4, not upgrade. after it restores, activate and jailbreak in iliberty so you can get to the home screen. Even if u dont have a sim itunes should still restore it.

Thanks, I've successfully restored the system. I didn't use iLiberty though, I used iPlus.
