Problem with brand new Iphone 1.1.1 when UNLOCKING--BLOCKS!!!!
Hi,
I have a 1.1.1. new Iphone. When i was trying to activate it yesterdeay using the appsnap i gof a wifi signal and proceeded, but later it blocked itself on the beggining screen (and wasn't responsive to the touch).
I then restored it a couple of times to factory settings but it kept the same, doesn't respond after 1 second to the touch (therefore starys on the ACTIVATE IPHONE and the world pic screen, it only turns on/off automatically every 4 or so minutes. I can only keep home and on/off button pressed around 8 secs to turn it off, or 25-30 secs to restore, nothing more.
I let it rest for the night as i tried it over 50 times to turn it on/off.... and this morning it worked. But when trying to deactivate again the phone didn't find any wifi and blocked itself there, now it restarted and blocks itself in the beggining screen again!!
What can i do????

I would reflash with 1.1.1 and try to run jailbreakme. But it might be on the new firmware, if so you have to take the long way to hack it.

here is a good guide if you happen to have 1.1.2 firmware already for some reason

hi luke,
what do you mean with reflash??? i restored it to the 1.1.1.. (and a couple of times already!!!) sorry english isn't my first lang!
i am reading the guide you told me, (but don't use a mac)...
when i restore to factory 1.1.1 with itunes, it doesn't give me an error, (as it says there it does)... it works smooth and then restarts the phone... by that time it BLOCKS again and i cannot do anything with it....
i have read the guides and done what they say, trying to activate, but the first time it crashed when doing the appsnap and then blcoked, and now it blocked when looking for the wifi network...
as i said before it blocks itself and then isn't responsive to touch....
what was weird was that after letting it all night off, today it wasn't blocked... (blocked when looking for a wifi network (which i have)..
what can i do? what could it be?? thank you

Can you check your modem version in the settings menu?

same guy, just made for the windows crew.
upgrading to 1.1.2 will give you the good modem firmware, then downgrade to unlock and proceed from there

OMG I have the exact same problem as culocacapedopis.
I have an unlocked 1.0.2 so I followed one of the guides and virginized my bb before restoring my firmware up to 1.1.1.
Once on 1.1.1. the phone took ages to start and froze as soon as it reached the activate screen. And as culocacapedopis says the phone will reboot very few minutes but freezes as soon as it reaches activate.
I tried restoring the firmware a few times but the same kept happening. All I could do was use iBrickr to downgrade firmware back to 1.0.2 and then downgrade bb. I even tried going to 1.1.1 after doing all this but still no luck.
Once back on 1.0.2, I can unlock and the phone works perfectly. I just can't get 1.1.1 working.
I'm scared to try 1.1.2 encase it still crashes and I brick the phone. If I try going to 1.1.2 can I still downgrade back to 1.0.2 and downgrade bb without any problems?

I had that problem with an iPhone it was caused by a severely damaged baseband. What I had to do is downgrade to 1.0.2 and virginize. After that you can upgrade to 1.1.1 and unlock.
