Unlocking ATT Phone
My phone is already activated with AT&T but I wish to be able to use it on my trip to China this weekend. Most of the threads talk about unlocking *brand new* phones--unlocking a phone with AT&T subscription isn't really in high demand.
My question: If I want to unlock my phone, is the process the same as unlocking a new phone, with the only difference being that I skip the iActivate step? The iPhone I have is one of the first batches (bought during week 1) updated to 1.1.1 but not to 1.1.2.
So far my best guess is just to run AnySim on it and it will then run on AT&T as well as a SIM card that I purchase in China?
Thanks in Advance for your replies.

Thanks for the reply.
I jailbreaked my phone, and now I have tons of software running. After jailbreaking, I tried using the anySIM unlocking software. It completed successfully. Afterwards, I put in a T-mobile sim card to test out if it would actually work in china.
After booting up, it would say "different sim card detected" and ask me to connect to itunes. I still had wifi and access to all my programs, but there would be no signals, and calls could not be placed.
Did I do something wrong? Does the phone need to be unlocked with the new sim in? Once its unlocked, do you have to "unlock" it each time for each new sim, or can you swap sims on the fly?
Any help would be appreciated. I am leaving on Saturday! Have already sent a donation in!

People who never looked or searched...

Thanks for the reply.
I did search on the topic and look in all the sticky posts before posting. The only thing I could find was that phones activated through iTunes instead of the activate hack would not work with anysim.
So does anyone know a way around this? A way to use any sim after having activated through iTunes? Also to rephrase my previous questions: Is anysim a run-each-time-you-change-sim cards sort of program or run once? I'm assuming run-once for now.
Also is there any disadvantage to the hacktivate approach as opposed to activating through iTunes?
Sincere thanks,

Anysim its a one time tool!
Now put your T-mobile sim in the phone, run a restore on itunes and repeat the unlocking process.
Should work fine!
