[Tutorial] Unlock + Activate iPhone without Jailbreaking

By chance I yesterday discovered that you can Unlock and Activate your iPhone using ZiPhone without jailbreaking it.
To unlock + activate without jailbreaking follow these steps:
1. Restore to 1.1.3 in iTunes
2. When restore is finished the iPhone restarts, BEFORE the iPhone starts up quit iTunes and iTunes helper
3. Activate + Unlock with ZiPhone
4. You now have a unlocked iPhone that is NOT jailbroken!!

The reason this is better, because on all the iPhones I have done this way and left them jailed I have found the following advantages:
1. Google "Locate Me" worked WITHOUT the need for 3rd Party Apps (on non-official networks, tested with ORANGE UK, VODAFONE UK and T-MOBILE UK)
2. There are NO syncing issues
3. If you put in a non-official sim card (not o2, AT&T, T-MOBILE DE or ORANGE FR) the EDGE settings appear under Settings->General->Network so you can add your networks EDGE settings and they will stay there after you restart your iPhone
4. Installer.app works so you can still have 3rd Party Apps
5. So far I have not had any problems and everything works perfectly

My reason for saying that the iPhone is NOT jailbroken is because after I use this method and I open iNdependence it tells me that the iPhone is jailed

Who want this metod???? jailbreaking the iPhone allows to run third part apps. Whats the meaning of that guide???

well, why dont you try it yourself

i do this something about 4 months i cnow what i'm saying, i think you something mess up... what you run in ZiPhone? -j -a or -a -u or -Z Y
i think you nēd repeat steps, restore back phone and see what happens when you only make -a -u (activate, unlock) you connot run 3rth part apps!

P.S. Google locate for me works and all works - because i have 3.9 bootloader and baseband 04.03.14_G google locator not work on [4.6 and BB 04.02.14_G] or [3.9 BB 04.02.14_G]

Thats impossible man, how do you get installer.app on the iPhone if you dont perform the jailbreak????

To install independence SSH you need the jailbreak and the ziphone activation dont give you the installer, so?????

PD. Jailbreak - This is a process that allows you to run unsigned code on the iPhone. The iPhone programming runs in a sandbox. Unless you can break out of this sandbox, you can only run the programs Apple has already installed on the iPhone. You are required to jailbreak your iPhone to run any 3rd party applications.

i agree with the comment posted below saying FUCKING NOOBS....

first of all i have activated, jailbroken and unlocked over 50 iphones and none of them had problems with syncing, nor google maps locateme, nor edge problems....

so i guess what im trying to say is when u jailbreak it doesnt affect ur iphone in any way and what im also trying to say is that IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE INSTALLER WITHOUT HAVING IT JAILBROKEN....TO JAILBREAK MEANS TO HAVE INSTALLER, TO HAVE INSTALLER MEANS TO JAILBREAK GET IT??? jailbreak=allowing for third party apps to be installed in ur iphone. so please learn ur terms before posting like u actually know something

the issue that ppl had with google maps that they had to install third party apps for it work was bc they had upgraded to 1.1.3 thru the dev team upgrade that did not upgrade the baseband bc the only way for google maps to locate u without the actual app locate me is to have 04.03.13g unlocked but im pretty sure u dont even understand what im saying

LOL please do some research before you post a "tutorial" like so many noobs who use Ziphone.

why would "they" leave this out? that's why ibrickr doesn't work...
