I have a working unloked 1.1.1/upgraded 1.1.2 iPhone. Now I tried to switch to another provider. I get a carrier and everything is working fine, except the SMS and phone app. They open and after a second they close without any chance to do anything. I tried to power down, no help!
Any ideas how to get different sims to work in that constellation.

Where do you come from?
There is an know issue with 1,1,2 and the use in countries (exact: with sim cards from coutries) where the iPhone is not officialy been sold.
If this is it, then you should take a look in the installer software on your iPhone for a programm called "iworld" and install it. It will help you with the crashing applications on your phone.
Try a search in the forum for the topic "iworld", too.

I use an US phone with a german T-Mobile card. iWorld is installed. If I am travelling out of Germany I try to use an United World callback card, to reduce the costs.
I can recieve calls on the United card, but Phone and SMS apps are not working properly.
Hellp is highly appreciated.
