THANK YOU!!!! it works
I used the 8 digit one because here in jordan our numbers are
+96279 xxxxxxx or 079 xxxxxxx for mobiles and +9626xxxxxxx or 06xxxxxxx for landlines..
now i have all my numbers stored in the +962 format and SMS and phone calls get identified correctly
Thank you! AppSupport-7.tar.gz works for MTS-Russia
Used the 8-digit one. Thank you.
How amazing that Apple didn't get this small thing right first-time (or even in the two updates since the original iPhone software).
Well done! this solved my CallerID problems with international numbers. THANK YOU!!!
Working great here in the UK. Thanks.
thank you man, you're a genius
numbers work like a charm here in norway when you store numbers without +47.. incoming sms doesnt show names from address book, but when you read the sms it shows..
would be interesting to try and apply the fix though
@Cynix,
I've been trying to convince people in the dev team to look at this for ages.
The only other thing we need now is to find an application that will read the calldata.db so we can edit it, remove the USA cities and populate it with our own countries whitepages information.
Many people don't realise that when they get a call, the call information screen should show where the call originated from. They don't even know this data is missing from the call info screen!!
This is what it should look like:

oh man you have made me so happy, I wrote the above before actually trying it cos I was convinced it would work and IT DOES :-)
The iPhone even knows I have two entries in my contacts that are the same CLI match and it comes up on the screen that its either one contact or the other calling :-)
