[Solution] International/local caller ID matching

This works great for me on Vodafone New Zealand:

Ok, here it goes:

There are countries where a LOCAL number can be dialed in two formats:

- Just the number, like 12341234
- As in a long distance, like NDD+Area Code+Local Number

The carrier will strip unnecessary NDD+Area Code

Examples are Brazil and US, and other may have this nice feature/service.

Why is it a feature? Because it's specially very nice for those who travel and have contacts entries for people in different cities. Then all numbers can be entered as long distance, so you can use your contacts to call from anywhere.

This is common on large countries, with several areas codes, where local numbers are already 7 or 8 digits.

Apple has 2 matching "styles". The "strict" way, that required a full matching and the "loose" way, that allows a number without Area_Code to match one with area code. The "Recent Calls" list uses the loose one, while the dialpad uses the "strict" one.

So, you dial 12341234 in the dialpad and you see no match. After the call you look at the "Recent Calls" and you see "Joe Doe". Why, because you have Joe's entry as 033-12341234.

So the extra patch is to make the dialpad use a "loose" matching style.

The 1.1.1 version uses a hard coded algorithm that is valid for the US only, so there is no "I want to see what was defined there for my country". Previous callerid patch where based on the x-rightmost digits approach, but that is too complex now to implement due to all the new rules and routines involved.

These CallerId rules are new for 1.1.2 and that's the way to do it. Besides, once the rules are properly identified for a country, it's way much more reliable.

Also, does this solve the issue of receiving SMS from alphanumeric servers?

In FW 1.1.1 the text messages from alphanumeric senders were all gibberish. Most of the banks in the country send text messages from these kind of servers. Does this Appframework thingy solve this issue?

If the 0 is optional, the use the one with it instead of the one with "-".

As for the bad SMS problems, it's said that the new baseband fixes the non-numeric SMS problem, as well as the garbled SMS text one introduced in 1.1.1

All countries that use the US phone numbering style, formaly known as North American Numbering Plan (NANP) just have to copy US or Canada entry and change the ISO Contry code and Telephone Country Code.

Do not forget to drop one of the other countries, as you are limited to 32 entries in the file.

The countries/territories that use NANP are:

US, Canada, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa

Does anyone have the 1.1.1 8 digits appsupport from the dev team website? Cynix.org is no longer allowing people to download from PCs... the link here no longer works for downloading. you will be directed to another page saying you need to add a source into the iphone.

My iphone is in endless loop now because I used the 1.0.2 file on an 1.1.1. Crap.
