I am in Brazil, used the 10 digit one, and it works fine
this thread is about caller id not number format
this is for number format
As I am not using the iphone in the states and it is annoying with ( ) in making outgoing calls, so I found this file useful........
Just replace the iphone file with the one below using ibrickr......
http://**********.com/files/55330128...ats.plist.html
The path is here
/System/Library/Frameworks/AddressBookUI.framework/ABPhoneFormats.plist
After finished, restart the phone!!!
/System/Library/Frameworks/Address*BookUI.Framework
do a search for number formats aus there is a file ABPhoneFormats.plist
you just copy it into the phone using ibricker to the directory in my last post
good luck
No good - have tried with ibricker :(
anyone in melbourne able to do this for me please?
do you want to take and change the way your telephone numbers are formatted in your contact list? for example: (714) 123-4567 and perhaps changing it to 714 123 4567
here is how you do it:
use either terminal.app or Transmit sftp or fugu sftp(these are mac, if you use pc, then use putty, etc., or use iBrickr) to grab the following file from your iPhone: /System/Library/Frameworks/AddressBookUI.framework/ABPhoneFormats.plist
now go to the following website and convert the ABPhoneFormats.plist file from binary to ascii: http://140.124.181.188/~khchung/cgi-bin/plutil.cgi
once converted to ascii, open it in a text editor(or plist editor) and locate the us formatting section, and go ahead and change the (###) ###-#### to ### ### ####, or whatever tickles your fancy. save the file using the exact same name, and then copy/transfer it back over/onto your iPhone, overwriting the existing one. and no, you do not need to convert the ascii version of the file back to binary before copying it back onto your iPhone ... the ascii version will work just fine.
is this plain english enough? good luck.
Cynix, great job man, this was by far the most annoying problem with using the iPhone outside of the US.
Hell with your junior member status, I motion we move you to Super Admin status right away :D
Again, great job and thanks :)
