Hi cynic
Like you I am in australia
unlike you i am not a developer/tech savy - smile
Any chance you could give me a amore detailed stepped approch to getting this working.
i am technical enough to have hacked iphone to work on vodafone, used cyberduck , and have installer on my iphone
But its not clear to me if i use all your files above or just the correct one, and what to use exactly to put it in. Any pointers in the right direction would be so appreciated, as i am about to lose my friends and business due to ignoring all their calls when i get no caller id..lol
EDIT 24/10: - NOT TO WORRY - i worked it out and it works beautifully...so for anyone who is really not tech savvy like me:
1. i downloaded o my MAC the correct file from the first message in this thread ( in my case australia - 9 digits)
2. I double clicked on APPSUPPORT-9.tar it to unarchive it and it created a file called "APPSUPPORT"
3. I opened cyberduck and connected to my ipone
4. i navigated using cyberduck to the location specified in the first message in this thread and first took the appsupport file in that location and backed it up to my mac
5. i dragged the new APPSUPPORT file frm my mac and replaced the old one on my iphone
PRESTO- caller id works!
Thanks
splurge
Cynix, I wanted to thank you as this fixed my biggest problem with my iPhone. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
So since i travel from North America (Canada) to Europe (Greece)
should I upload the 10 digit file?
Greece locals: area code plus number for land line: abc1234567
Greece cell phone: 1234567890
will installing the 10 digit file change anything while i am in Canada?
an
I believe that 7 or 8 digits are enough for most of us.
in Italy we follow this pattern: +39 035 22222 for landlines or +39 348 222222 for cellphones. As you can see there are at least 10 digits displayed, but as Cynix pointed out the phone-check is made on the final 7 or 8 numbers, and it's very unlikely that they'll match those of another caller.
i knew this would work. Its the same way a nokia handles numbers. Only checking the last 7 numbers. I once got a SMS from myself, but in truth it was someone with the number 087XXXXXXX, and my number was 072XXXXXXX. But because i stored my own number in nokia as 072XXXXXXX , and the nokia only checked the incoming sms`s last 7 digits, it said that i smsed myself lol.
@aouas
For use in Greece the 10 digit one will work since the numbers are:
+30XXXXXXXXXX For landline and mobile but i think it wont work in Canada and USA
when i click on the link to 10 digit file it just opens another web page with some binary language without any downloading options.also there is no * in the url which i can remove to download.
