Removing all traces of IPSF.

Ok so one of my friends brought me an iphone that was still running 1.0.2 and asked me if Icould upgradeit for him. Little that I know that saying yeas would put my life on hold for 24 hours.

So when I first looked at it I found it odd that there was not installer or anysim on the SB. So I thought whatever I,ll just virginize and update ... WRONG... virginize fucked up and iphone restarted in restore mode... so i thought whatever i'll just update ... WRONG !! ... fucked up again ... so long story short after beeing through all of the firmwares with all the different modem firmwares I ended up with no wifi ... no baseband adress ... I was kinda freaking out .. then 12 hours after I had finally figured out a way the get through the whole virginizing and crap... So now I am back at 1.0.2 and to my HUGE surprise I am still simunlocked ... I guess the only way that is possible is if my friend (who got his iphone already unlocked thriug ebay) got it with ipsf installed ... So Basically what I am asking,

1) Is there a definitive way to know if an iphone was unlocked with ipsf?
2) If it has been unlocked with IPSF how the hell can I get to 1.1.3 without messing up everything?
3)Is there a way to completly remove all traces of ipsf.

If it has been unlocked with IPSF, why would you want to remove it? 1.1.3 with IPSF works just fine, use the latest (at the time of me writing this 1.1.3-3) Installer upgrade. I would recommend to deinstall all apps, make sure you have the latest Installer, have the latest BSD Subsystem installed, have OpenSSH on your phone. Give it a go, read in the appropriate threads for a while. If you are running bootloader 3.9, you will be able to restore to 1.1.1 anytime, then run octoprep and upgrade to 1.1.2, then give 1.1.3 another go.

You need to go up to 1.1.1 (there are plenty of guides for that here, use search). Once you are on 1.1.1, there is a guide how to upgrade to 1.1.2 on the ipsf website. Use search too on how to get to 1.1.3, you can do this upgrade from Installer, proceed as I said above. Take your time, remove the apps, make sure auto-lock is set to never, you have good WLAN coverage, your iPhone is connected to mains.

Most important thing: Use search.

to be more specific, check out 1.1.1 jailbreaks using jailbreakme.com. I personally at this point would use to method described on iunlock.no, it is sort of a refined jailbreakme.com one. Both are very very easy to use, they have been used 100000 times and there is a tutorial in the stickies on this page. Ask again if you can't get it to work.

I have a feeling this was not an IPSF unlock... but the only way to be sure is to dump the nor and look at the ltoken...

Having said that, I bet this is a AnySIM 1.0.2 unlock...

IPSF works with all the known BB firmwares (as long as you have BL3.9), so there's no need remove traces of it. Just upgrade.

To answer 3) No you cannot remove all traces of IPSF unless you have a backup of the ltoken. But again, I do not think this is an IPSF unlock.

I would make sure the BB is 1.0.2 and try virginzing again... Or, if you are pretty sure it's IPSF, upgrade to 1.1.1 and see if your unlock remains. If your IMEI goes to 0049, you can be pretty sure you have an AnySIM 1.0.2 unlock.

I removed all traces of IPSF by erasing the seczone using Geohot's tool.

This would only be possible if you had a pre-IPSF backup of your ltoken. The RSA ltoken cannot be retrieved if it is lost.

Yes, especially if your cache will be gone after 1.1.3 Upgrade. So you should better do this on your iPhone:

cp $(find /var/root/Library/Caches/bbsimfree -name "*.cache") /ipsf.cache

and then move it to save place with SCP...!:) If you don't find it it's maybe gone already (or hasn't been saved by an older IPSF version)...

why would you need to remove IPSF? just update your phone normally and it will still be unlocked.
