My sister-in-law accidentally upgraded her 2G phone and as a result, lost everything and it's gone back to the locked activation screen.
I know I can Jailbreak it with Spirit...
But how do I get it past the lock screen and activated? Any ideas?
and after the fact, once it's jailbroken, can someone point me in the direction of an unlock?
I've posted on a couple forums with no responses! Any help would be MUCHO appreciated!!
On a 2G to activate legitimately is harder, you need the original SIM that came with the 2G iPhone and it needs to have been activated on an iPhone plan at some time in the past.
Because of all this extra hassle, I would advise you to not worry about Spirit. It is most useful for 3GS iPhones and 3rd gen iPod touches.
Simply use redsn0w see the following guide: iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your iPhone 2G on OS 3.1.3 Using RedSn0w (Windows)
The guide is not 100% correct. I have reported this to iclarified.
You also need to download the 3.1.2 ISPW http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite....1_Restore.ipsw and when redsn0w asks for an IPSW use the 3.1.2 IPSW you downloaded (this works even though you are jailbreaking/hacktivating OS 3.1.3)

So I'm stuck at Step 2...
I dont get the option through Itunes to Restore my iphone.
It's just telling me...
'The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported'
Any way around this?
**It's a Rogers SIM card**
