Offical UNLOCKED 1.1.2 on SALES now in Germany!!

My god!

I just came from the city (Cologne, Germany) and T-Mobile started the sales of an fully unlocked iPhone 1.1.2 in Germany for 999 Euro!

Customers who already bought it, can get an "unlock code" within 24 hours!!!

COOOOOOL!

May be we can use the image of this new Unlocked iPhone in order to unlock all our iPhones without any hacks and with a Key Generator!!!

Update: Everybody who bought its iPhone after the 19. november 2007 will get an unlock for free (!!). You still have to make a contract though…

Wow.. Is this fallout from the vodafone lawsuit? 999 euros is quite a lot of money for a fone... and if t-mobile is selling it, it must mean that Apple is committed to supporting an unlocked version in all future firmware updates.

All I can say is wow! :) This might really help with the unlock efforts of the new OOB 1.1.2 phones.

Let's wait for someone that buys that phone... if anyone will purchase it :D

If this report and there is going to be an unlock code, then there must be a factory installed code on the handset that unlocks it. If it was the same code for every handset then that would fucking pwn.

If its based on IMEI number then it would be some sort of alogrythm ?

...only if someone parts with the 999 Euro (USD 1,480 at yesterday's rate) and makes the phone available to the DevTeam...

i believe that with all the donatiosn that have been made to the team they can probably purchase 2/3 of them, maybe more!

I think there are 3 ways Appel can use to unlock phones:

1) By asking customer to go into any repair to let tech guys unlock it. This would somewhat prove it is not a simple deal, by involving any hardware means to get it unlocked;

2) Send customers a magic number which, when added in somewhere, will unlock things. This would be the best for anyone, as this number can be generated -- unless they add some sort of phone/code/whatever validation (ie, STEAM gaming network) -- but even should not be too hard and must be written anywhere in such unlocked phone, in a safe place when one update it, it not get lost and locked again.

3) Phones has a mix of both steps in a hidden application we're not aware of, which do all the black magic.

As they have shown already they like to do things in the hard way, but they do not like to... piss off their customers (not the official ones... you understood), i do not think our unlocking will take too much from now on.

Forgot to add, i think ALL this unlocking will go inside phone digital certificate files... As a software developer, i will trust in such RSA files... ;)

I don't think there will be anything different about this iphone, compared to the locked version.

All iphones must have an unlock code, just that apple do not release them for OOB locked phones.

As for figuring out the algorithm, wonder what sort of size sample we need of unlock codes and IMEI numbers?

Would be nice to see how this code works, how long it is and where it is entered.
