m.youtube.com stopped working with new site

A few days ago Google updated their mobile youtube site and now it doesn't work on my first gen iPhone with 2.1 firmware.

The old version of m.youtube.com (for non-touch screen mobile phones) displays empty thumbnails instead of videos and when I click on them to play, the video player opens but doesn't load the video.

The new version of m.youtube.com shows thumbnails but doesn't play videos either, it doesn't even open the player, just shows a spinning icon and nothing happens when I click a video to play.

It seems iPod touch also has these problems.

Can anyone play videos through m.youtube.com on iPhone 2G (open the link in your phone's browser)?

You might need to upgrade to iOS 3.1.x

There is little point remaining on iOS 2.x these days.

I guess you're right, I just wanted to see if someone can confirm it works with the latest firmware.

Too bad it's not possible to upgrade just the built in browser. Or Google doesn't release a proper youtube app.

The reason why I haven't upgraded yet is basicly "if it ain't broke don't fix it" :)
There's the issue of battery life and the speed of the OS on older iPhones. Just wasn't going to mess with it.

Just tested and it works fine on my 2G running iOS 3.1.2

iOS 3.x is really not any slower than iOS 2.x
If you fix push notifications and set up iPhone as new then you should get good battery life. Properly configured - I get more than a week on standby with my 2G running 3.1.x (I use it rarely as I also have a 3GS)

I will need to turn off edge though, does BossPrefs still work?

SBsettings has generally replaced BossPrefs. Haven't used edge toggle in a while but I believe it works fine.
