I have a 1st Gen iPhone jailbroken, unlocked and upgraded to 1.1.4 . Over the past few weeks, I have noticed an alarming problem. On certain occasions my iPhone emits a loud, high pitched whine. Nothing works and I cant do anything to shut it off. I have to result to a hard reboot to reset everything. Recently also I have noticed that this occurs when I try to play a video. The video plays and then later on it stops and the whine begins.
On top of that, previously I lost the ability to use the phone. Everything seems normal until I open up SMS and then I start typing a message. First all the keys "stick" that is they stay raised even after I have taken my finger of the keyboard, kindl of like a delayed reaction. Secondly, as I am typing the signal drops until finally I get "no service" message. I know it's not my sim or my account as I have tested the sim in another phone and it works fine.
Is there some fix for this? or should I just do a full restore and upgrade to 2.0?
I am scared to use my iPhone now for fear of causing irreperable hardware damage.
Have you installed any new apps as of late? Something you installed might be causing the problem.. Restore back to 1.1.4 and see if that works... and test it before you load it with apps... I'd hold on to 1.1.4 for now as 2.0 is known to be both sluggish and buggy...
