"The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be used with iTunes because the SIM card is not installed
I currently get "The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be used with iTunes because the SIM card is not installed. You must insert your sim card into your iphone in order to activate it."
whenever I connect to iTunes. I'm trying to find a solution for this. Does anyone have a fix?
Yesterday evening I tried to unlock an 8GB iphone using iTunes, Independence and the original iUnlock.app. It's worked for me several times before, so I thought I knew what steps to follow.
The iPhone's firmware was 1.0.1, so I first restored it using 'alt restore' to 1.0.2. After that I activated iTunes and plugged in the iPhone in order to pair it.
Then I shutdown iTunes & iTunes helper and started Independence. I activated the iphone, ran jailbreak and installed ssh etc... Then I shut down Independence.
I connected to my wireless network and with Fugu I then copied over iUnlock.app and restarted the iPhone. After restarting I removed the AT&T sim card and ran iUnlock.app.
After iUnlock.app ran, I put in a new simcard for testing. It couldn't find a network. Then I plugged it into iTunes and it told me the iPhone was not activated.
I then tried to activate again using Independence however could not activate.
Now whenever I connect to iTunes I get the message below (see error message for iTunes)
If I try to use Independence I can jailbreak, re-install ssh however I cannot run Activate. If I try to activate I get the error message below.
I have restored my iPhone several times, with the AT&T simcard inside and with no simcard inside.
The 'home' screen of my iPhone is now as below, with the ICCID labelled "Unknown".
Does anyone have a fix for this?
System:
macbookpro
iPhone 8 GB Firmware 1.0.2
iTunes 7.4.1
Independence 1.2.1
iUnlock.app

So far no solution worked.
I can jailbreak, I can install SSH but I cannot activate.
As I cannot activate, there is no way to get access to the iPhone.
The trick calling emergency *#307# doesn't work either because the emergency calls do not work.
Any idea?
iActivator didn't solve the problem
Thank you Ceddy - I am happy iActivator worked for you.
Sadly it didn't help me.
I still have the same problem.
