Have new virgin iphone 1.02 - some questions

Hi,

I had asked a friend to get me a 8gb iphone which he did from Apple store at Manhattan Beach LA on 26th Sept.

Did the Emergency call procedure to find out the firmware and it showed it as
03.14.08_G
which thank god means firmware 1.0.2 :)

I am planning to use the CarlosValdosta method, but I had a question

Step 4 says - if you have 1.0.2 skip to step 7

Step7 talks about opening AppTap and selection 1.0.2?
Now do I need to do this even if I already have 1.0.2 firmware on the phone?
So should I or should I not download 1.0.2 firmware? or is any particular verison
of 1.0.2 is needed to use in this unlock process ( other than the one i have 03.14.08_G)

If I do need to complete the step, can someone tell how much time it takes to complete
this step or it will automatically do so by restarting the phone , go to yellow triangle and
activation screen?
