i have a jailbroken iphone firmware 2.1, is there anyway to enable GPS without being connected to a WiFi connection because each time i open Maps i get this msg Could not activate cellular data network: You are not subscribed to a cellular data service

There is no GPS on a 2G iPhone. Thats the section you posted it.

If you want the kind-of-accurate loacation on the iPhone 2G based on WiFi it has to be switched on. If you just care about knowing which city you are in or which part of it the triangulation method provided by cell tower calculation needs you to be connected to your provider plus have data service (APN and stuff) setup correct. But this is far away from beeing GPS.
