Do I need to update

Hi I have a iphone that was purchased before they were available in Canada. The verison is 1.0.2 and uses anysim also the firm is 04.01.13_G.
This phone keeps freezing up and everytime I put it into Itunes it wants to do a update.I don't have a clue as to what or should I do. Any help would be greatO:)

use iClarified.com Tutorials to get your phone up to FW 3.0 and use Redsnow to Unlock it if you want..

ok now it says that my sim isn't right and to insert one that came from the service provider

now the phone is in a different language and is useless...lol

As i posted earlier I needed to update, I did as follwed by the steps provided, now the phone is in chinease and can only be used for emergency calls only and when plugged into itunes it says the sim isn't from a proper provider..
