[1.1.3 (1.1.2 OTB)] Searching for network problem, iphone Freeze missing network icon

Hey all,

I've been using a week 47 iphone for quite a while now. I was using a simhack all these while until recently. Just a few days ago I realised my wifi has been acting up. Unable to detect the connection at all, and if it does, it's usually 1-2 rings (the indicator) only. Then a string of problems occur.

When I was on 1.1.2 + simhack
The phone will sometimes reboot when I'm on call suddenly, and will show the Apple logo. And then it will either be frozen at the slider
(power button won't work) or when it does go into the springboard, it will be frozen at "Searching ..." <-- where your GSM provider should be.

Heck so I thought, HMMMMMMmmmmm maybe the simhack craped out. So what the heck, right? Now I have an excuse to upgrade to 1.1.3 and get rid of the simhack. So I proceeded to download iLiberty-x. Made a restore from iTunes to 1.1.3. Then enter DFU mode with iLiberty and got everything working again.


Now, this is where my problem starts.

1.1.3 now
After a night, I got to check the phone this morning, it froze on the springboard. I could not power down at all, except by holding the power + home button. And once again, it's frozen at the slider .... and when it DOES go to the springboard, it freezes when it tries to get my gsm network provider. I wonder what's wrong? I open up iLiberty again and this time round downgraded the bootloader from 4.6 to the 3.9fakeblank and hit the unlock option again. Everything worked fine after that. Well, only for about 1-2 hours at least. When I wake the phone from sleep mode, it'll freeze at the springboard again .... AND I have to do the process all over again. What gives? I tried 2 different sim cards (2 different GSM provider) and the problem is consistent.

Could this be caused by the bootloader? Did I messed it up? I've only have these 3 apps on my phone at the moment, Cydia, Installer and Nemusync. I need to identify the problem before knowing what to fix :\

have u done a DFU restore? and did you use ziphone to unlock?

if u have not done a dfu restore then the problem might be that you still have some of you old files acting up
in DFU restore mode your iphone is wiped clean and all files writen afresh, normal restore keeps some of the old files

so about ziphone
if you have used ziphone to unlock then that is your problem. . . DFU restore and unlock with iLiberty (search the forum for a tutorial)

Thanks for the reply ... nah, I don't like ziphone :P I realised that all these while I've been in restoring mode and not DFU. DFU is the one where you screen is in red right? I manage to do just that and things seems to be fine for the time being .... however I'm worried if I had messed up the bootloader?

I dont think you screwed it up. Your are absolutely right not to use ZiPhone, this would be like russian roulette to your iPhone.
You have been using Simhack before then iLiberty, that should not be the problem.
Here is what i would suggest: DFU restore to firmware 1.1.4. Then goto

to unlock your iPhone with iLiberty+. On step 3.17 when it comes to use Bootneuter set Neuter=on, FakeBlank=off, Unlock=ON and "Version" to 4.6. this way you will have the bootloader on your iPhone that matches your week 47 iPhone (came with 4.6).
You will have an unlocked iPhone then with Installer on it at current firmware. Without installing other software for now check if you still experience the problems you had.

and if uv messed with the bootloader then bootneuter flashing ( as volkspost has posted above) will fix it

but i would bet my life that volkspost is right about nothing beeing wrong with ur BL

Just when I thought I had fixed it ... it happened again. Sigh. I'm gonna try this step and let you guys know how it went. Appreciate the help so far :)

Ok, I've followed all the steps already, and the phone seems to be working fine ... just hope that it remains that way for a single day. If it doesn't ... I don't know what's wrong :\ *crosses fingers*!

It happened again ... after an hour or so, I came to check on the phone, it was in sleep mode, when I try to wake it up, it froze at the slider with the word 'Searching ..." probably searching for the network. I couldn't do a thing so I pressed the Home + Power button to go to restore mode and used Liberty to kick it out of restore mode, then I got the phone back to working condition again. What's wrong??? I know this isn't gonna last 'coz it's gonna happen again.

I'm at my wit's end ... sigh.

Is there anything else that I can try?

u wanna try pwnage? its custome firmware so i think it will make a difference
also download a fresh copy of 1.1.4 fw file

Just one more idea, kind of. After you restored and unlocked the iphone you probably connected it to iTunes to sync. Usually after restoring a dialog pops up then asking if you want to restore data "from a backup". The other option would be to "setup as a new iPhone". Did you choose the backup option? In this case you might have get back a lot of preference files from old installation. I dont know what software and stuff you had installed at 1.1.2/1.1.4.
If you used the "backup2 option I would give it one more try and "setup as a new iPhone". You can use iTunes after that to sync your iPhone and get Music, Addresses etc back.

This is jind of my last idea for now...
