[1.1.2 OTB] Downgrade to 1.0.2 impossible for week > 47 phones?
After trying for about two days to downgrade an OTB 1.1.2 iPhone to 1.0.2, because of a failed HW unlock attempt (lost wifi, now 'repair needed') and looking around posts on this and other forum boards, it has come to my attention that lots of people have problems doing the downgrade where iTunes just stuck on the 'Waiting for iPhone' screen, and the iPhone showing the Apple logo along with the spinning ball at the bottom, with no success.
This seems to be a common issue for week 48 and further phones (mine es 49). I don't know what could possibly have changed making it impossible to downgrade. I can go to both 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 (always without wifi and with the 'Repair Needed' message). I'm pretty sure that upgrading the phone to 1.1.3 would fix this issues but I want to avoid that to all cost.
I've been fiddling around with the contents of the 1.0.2 ipsw file. I've come to the conclusion that what makes the phone to stay on the 'Waiting for iPhone' state is the included 'kernelcache' file. If anyone knows of a way to patch such file (or some other part of the ipsw for that matter) in order to be able to downgrade and boot the phone with 1.0.2 would be greatly appreciated. I also tried changing a 'ForceNANDErase' bool value to 'false' on the Restore.plist for 1.0.2 (thinking that perhaps the 'Waiting for iPhone' message was produced when iTunes tried to erase the NAND portion of the phone and failed) with no success. I even removed the key from the file but still always get stuck on 'Waiting for iPhone'.
