[1.1.2 OTB] Bootneuter
I am on 1.1.2 OTB unlock with one the first unlocking process geo unlock (BL4.6).
Now if I flash the bootloader with Bootneuter can I update to 1.1.4 just using the update function in iTunes (not restore) in order to don't loose any data stored in the phone?
So the process would be:
bootneuter: neuter and unlock on 4.6
run iTunes and update to 1.1.4
I should get a 1.1.4 iPhone unlocked with my address book, my applications and so on...
Am I right?
You're confusing bootloader (BL) with baseband (BB). If you proceed with your method your phone will be at 1.1.4 and locked.
Sync your phone with iTunes in order to save contacts, calendars etc. I also use a shareware utility called iPod Access to transfer music from the phone to the iTunes Library. There are a few free ones such as Senuti.
Shift - Restore to 1.1.4 in iTunes - Your phone will be locked *** New Baseband
J/A/U - Use the Pwnage Tool or iPlus/iLiberty (Search this site)
Setup up as a *new* phone in iTunes
Sync with iTunes
You'll have to reinstall you apps but that's not a big deal.
why setup as 'new' phone!
he has to restore from the backup to get all his contacts/notes/sms etc. back on the phone...
from what I understood bootneuter unlocks the phone changing some strings in the "security cheks" of the BL and this modification it's permanent so if you update the firmware it stays unlocked.
but Never tried....
The problem sync contacts is that I never did that and if I sync it now the pc will blank my addresss book. Now I found a way to get the address book using WinSCP, grabbing the file the iPhone and then copy the file to the new or updateed iPhone.
iphone12 the answer to your question has been covered several times.

There are a few apps which can backup SMS etc (search)
With IPlus/iLiberty there's less of a chance of corruption when restore from a backup
you could've just selected merge contacts when syncing which would have copied all contacts from the iphone to your pc:cool:
