1.1.2. No flaming: who's actually working on the unlock?
Please read first:
***I'm truly looking for genuine information. I'm not just bitching and certainly not interested in stirring up a fight. I am posing a counterpoint to a commonly held belief simply to stimulate fresh information - that's it!***
So anyway, I am just curious: does anyone have any proof that there is an unlock-hack underway for 1.1.2.? I'm sure that SOMEONE is working on it - but who and where?
Understand that I've been reading this board since the very first hacks for the iphone and I've watched the feedback and updates from the hacking community slow to a trickle, not that I can blame them. Look, they've got their phones and hundreds of other people's phones unlocked and running fine - does it really make sense to continuously hack away at Apple's patches? Eventually even the most devoted hacker is gonna ask themselves, what else is out there? And frankly I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
Unfortunately there is some evidence to support this fear of mine:
1.) The Dev Team's "Sticky: STATUS - What is going on?" thread is loonnnngg over due for an update. How about a few quick words - maybe just a, "hi!"
2.) The actual Dev Team Wiki hasn't been updated since the notice about the Sec pack and I think that was from last month, right? (Truly asking, I don't know.)
3.) Then there's this site saying:
"The iPhone Dev Team isn't the same team as it was when the iPhone came out back in late June. Many of the programmers have left the team and those remaining members have joined forces with the iPhone Touch Dev Team some time ago."
"The latest iPhone with the new 4.06 bootloader hasn't been cracked because of lack of interest, it's because they don't have the new iPhone to crack."
^^ Which is insane because the denotation thread on this forum funnels between $100-300 a day to the Dev team. Hell, these guys could not only buy iphones, but Apple stock with that kind of consistent income.
So there's something shady going on there..
In conclusion, I'm hopefully wrong. And I mean that seriously: I hope that I am wrong. So if any of you have some links or inside knowledge to share please do!
Again, I don't want to start a flame war or be a dick, I'm just looking for a bit of hard information to back-up the wishes of a couple hundred of us who are stuck with 1.1.2...
For everyone who has already contributed hacks, guides, and general help, you guys are awesome - truly great people who just enjoy helping others. :D
Keep it up!
