[1.1.1 OTB] 1.1.2 baseband question
Ok my background, I have unlocked/fixed/cutomized over 140 iphones. Most were 1.0.2, 1.1.1. I never updated my clients phones to 1.1.2 just because of what that sticky said. There is no official 1.1.2 anysim.. so i just stayed clear of that incase in the future it would come back to haunt me. Plus 1.1.2 features over 1.1.1 isnt really worth it to me...
Now from what i know when you restore an iphone, you if your downgrading the restore will never overwrite a higher baseband, ie, if you have 1.1.3 baseband and downgrade to 1.0.2, you get a 1.0.2 software with a 1.1.3 baseband (correct?) So say if I had an unlocked 1.1.1 (anysim) and by accident messed it up and then i just RE-restored to 1.1.1, (the baseband should still be untouched ) therefore unlocked, the phone only needs to be jailbroken, (wich ive done a few times)
So here is my question. The other day, i upgraded one of my clients phones from 1.1.2 (anysim 1.2.1U) i beleive, to 1.1.3 via Modmyifones installer app, it was fine, worked no problem, made calls, then i guess after a bit it just went into recovery mode. So when i got the phone back, i downgraded it to, 1.1.1 and from my understanding the Baseband should still be unlocked, but i coudlnt make phone calls from it. The client wanted me to bring it back to 1.1.3, so i oktoprep'ed it updated to 1.1.2 and guess what? The baseband worked fine. So my question is why wouldnt the 1.1.2 unlocked baseband work in 1.1.1 software, im 100% sure my own personal iphone wich i had upgraded to 1.1.1 from 1.0.2 unlocked, didnt like 1.1.1 (at the time) downgraded to 1.0.2 then jailbroke and it was working fine,
anyone know why? its just something that i would like to understand.
