From what i understand i am running 1.1.2. Have no way to confirm since noone seems to give a straight answer on this board. How do i check this?

And, can a uk iphone running 1.1.2 be activated and jailbroke right now? There are endless posts...some saying that it can be done...some saying it CANT be done. Can someone pls give a definitive answer? plssss. everyone seems to have his/her own opinion.

And i believe it cant be unlocked till any sim for 1.1.2 is out. Sorry but this board has been of no help to me...just confused the f.... out of me.

If you bought it out of the box in the UK you can bet everything you own that your iPhone has 1.1.2 running on it.

To answer your question, yes if you bought iphone from uk it will be running FW 1.1.2 with bootloader 4.6, which mean you CAN'T unlock.

You can however jailbreak and activate.

I am starting to get a bit panicky now.

I mean, what happens if they can't actually crack the new bootloader or find another way to unlock the handset. I got my iPhone on Saturday and its killing me not being able to use it as a phone.

I just really hope they find a crack.

If you absolutly need to use it as a phone, you CAN use a Pay As You Go O2 SIM, but its up to you on how desperate you are.

I dont essentially need it. I still have a SE K810i - but I want to use it as a phone cause its such an awesome device. I want to put a T-Mobile SIM in it (UK OTB)

It is easy as pie to activate every feature of a OTB uk phone. The only caveat is that you can't use the phone on any other network other than O2. It must be O2 whether that is PAYG or another contract. I can confirm this as I took the plunge at the w/e and hacked my OTB 1.1.2 and am happily using it with O2 simplicity, with the 7.50 data bolt on (and no 18mnth contract)! BTW I haven't checked visual voicemail yet but I have doubts it works. But who cares about that eh? With email and txts voicemail has been dead to me for a long time!

can someone pls direct me to the thread that has the best instructions to activate & jailbreak. Pls treat me as noobie....when u say activate that means i cant activate using itunes? do i have to go by the method on the board?
