Even if I agree with your statament, I think there is no need of being so dramatic: some people are reporting success in jailbreaking and unlocking 1.1.2 firmware. Of course the software will probably have some bugs which need to be fixed, but its just been realesed and it's still experimental. Of course we better let the pro doing it and wait for something easier and working as we can mess things up with up with our iphones. That's exactly the reason of my former question: I was wondering if Carnaval will work with an oob 1.1.2 downgraded to 1.1.1

the thing is... you have to do a lot of work... then multiple downgrades... and you get a 1.1.2 baseband with a 1.02 firmware... whats the point of having that?
you cant unlock a 1.1.2 firmware yet... so i dont see it like a good process... is not worth the work nor the features.... (what features anyway? :S)
regarding your carnaval question and 1.1.2 it will probably work for the jailbreak.. but thats it.. there is no unlock for 1.1.2 yet (the baseband remains 1.1.2 remember)

How long do I wait for Anysim after pressing OK Unlock My Phone
Hi
I used Carnaval v07 today with my new 1.1.1 iphone. It went smoothly and I had 4 reboots successfully.
After that I am at the springboard page with all the icons.
I clicked on Anysim, scroll thru the notes, then clicked "Ok. Unlock My Phone".....and waited....and waited... for abt 5 mins but nothing happens....
any tips appreciated....
thanks!

you have to install bsd subsystem from installer in order to run anysim..
(in futures versions of carnaval this wont be necesary)

That's true. CARNAVAL v0.8 already comes with all the necessary binaries so you can safely run anySIM on 1.1.1 firmwares.
CARNAVAL v0.8:

This is the english version I've distributed to a few people here in hackint0sh so they could test it out.
I've been spending my spare time looking into alternatives for the new version of CARNAVAL for 1.1.2 firmware, so I kind forgot to release this one.
Later I'll be releasing the other languages (including German!).
Cheers.

Yes, Brasuco was kind enough to give me a link to CARNAVAL 0.8 to test but I haven't got a new phone to test it out yet therefore I did not want to say anything. Anyone out there with new OTB 1.1.1 phone, if you use CARNAVAL 0.8, can you let us know if anySIM 1.1 run correctly WITHOUT the BSD install. Brasuco included some of the UNIX binaries in his latest version thus negate the need for BSD download/install - Many thanks.
The 1.1.2 situation is still very cloudy, I have to agree with Tetsu that we should sit still and wait.

My out of Box 1.1.1 was unlocked using Carnaval, then I was just messing around, I downgraded back to 1.02 and changed base band to 03 by verginized. I then unlocked successful using 1.02 unlocking tools. THen I upgrade to 1.1.1 and the phone doesn't read the simcard. I then tried to unlock it again using anySIM 1.1 but it said that can't not unlock the phone. So I did a Restore to 1.1.1 and tried to unlock again, which wasn't successful.
I read somewhere on the forum. it said that I should change the lock down file. I then did that on my other phone (the second phone). Now that phone can not be load up. it stayed at the apple logo. I screw up this one pretty bad.
Yes, I checked the permission and it was 0775 just like you said no need to change.
Bottom line is that I have firmware of 1.1.1, Baseband of 03, and my IMEI is correct from the original.
What should I do at this point? Should I down grade it to 1.0.2 and just keep it as it?
Thanksss
If you are running 1.1.1 make sure you are running baseband 4. You can check with bbupdater -v
