I'm just wondering if it could be possible to put a french orange prepaid card into an american iphone. Then call the orange service center and ask them to legally unlock the iphone for 100 euro. Just a idea that i think could work the only thing you would have to do is to jailbraik it to pass the activation screen in itunes.

i dont think thats possible because the phones are area locked so an american iphone wouldnt work with french orangw without unlocking.. then there is relly no need for official unlock

Ya that's what i thought but when you putt in a unsupported simcard and connect to itunes it says please enter a at&t card or any other simcard from a supported carrier. So that's where i got the idea from orange is a supported carrier

the reason for that could be that the firmware is the same for all phones

but carrier locks are different so instead of making different messages, apple probably got lazy and made a single message

i wish they would get lazy with breaking unlocks.. hah
