Awesome khrys, had the exact same issue and this seems to have resolved it.
I also have a 1.1.2 OTB (US) and a couple of questions for the gurus of the forum:

Ok... more details
wow I thought I was being too detailed and then cut out a bunch so it didn't drag on.
Sweathers glad to have helped someone else as it's always nice to be able to give back something to the community as I have learned from.
nystateofmind27 now here are the details you want I beleive and anyone else who is having the same problem.
I believe (as I've only done this once but sweathers seems to have confirmed and I also will in 3 nights on another iphone) that the reason you get hung up on not being able to jailbreak is because it goes back to springboard (opening screen with slide to emergency call) too quickly when you are trying to download the jailbreak AppSnapp program.
So to get by this you follow every other guide and try installing AppSnapp from jailbreakme on your iphone (itouch for now I guess) and then it kicks you back to springboard opening screen.
At this time you again - slide to make emergency call
- type in 0 and call
it rings then - answer/accept
then press pause button/hold
it rings again - press decline
-goto the contact with the jailbreakme url
-IMMEDIATELY PRESS ON THE LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER WHERE IT OPENS A NEW WINDOW (this will now open a new window where a second jailbreak homepage will load up and will allow the first page which you already started dowloading the AppSnapp to your iphone from now complete the download)
-you will now see the status of your download come up on the screen with it's progress (leave it alone and it will now complete)
-now go back to the guide and complete your jailbreak for 1.1.1 (I won't make this a complete guide just a supplement that someone may add to another guide to make it more complete for the just in case situations like ours)
I have found the best way to keep track of all the things I do is to copy and paste together my own guide with the things I have found to work and this way I have something to go back to when I need to.
foobarz - this is definately not a guide to jailbreaking your iphone to be able to use it as an itouch but more of a supplement because of problems some of us have run into. I am definately not a guru and I have only started with this forum about 2 weeks ago and yes I used the search button and read dozens of threads. I only started to post due to my own difficulties that I could not find an answer to on the forums and this was a good way to address this problem.
The guides (actual guides) should have links to where you can download the appropriate 1.1.1 firmware and as for itunes you can use 7.5 I just downgraded it because I was trying every combination of things I knew worked but 7.5 will do just fine. hope this helps
If anyone has anymore questions feel free to ask and I'll try to help as I'll be monitoring this thread for the next few days but hopefully the people with enough patience to make guides will use this info to supplement the gaps that sometimes arise with the iphone.
robertoms - thank you for voicing your experience as I would have never kept trying that long if it weren't for you and hey now it seems we have filled another hole along this road
Well now.. I'm beginning to think god does not want me to own an iphone..
I got home and did everything according to khrys description. It still closes Safari and goes back to the already annoying activation screen.
Is the button we are supposed to push before safari shuts, the one in the lower right (which shows all the opened browser windows)? That's the one I've been pushing over and over again, same result: ACTIVATION SCREEN.
I don't know what to do! I know its not the WiFi connection cause it's working properly, so I guess it's either me doing something wrong or the method is not that effective...
Help will be appreciated! Thanks!
you have to keep trying mibasora, I also almost give up trying this wifi jailbreakme stuff but it works after a while. sometimes the connection to jailbreakme.com may be down or too many attempts being tried at the same moments.
Just thought I'd confirm... I just did another 1.1.2 using this method and we have a nice iTouch now. Gonna tell the guy to get a Turbosim and all is good.
I guess someone very experienced should give advice or make a how to.
There are definetely some problems with the activation/jailbreaking using jailbreakme.com
So many people (not only the hardest noobs ) are reporting this but only with phones upgraded to 1.1.2 before (or 1.1.2 otb) If you jailbreak a 1.1.1 otb it works like charm.
I updated two 1.1.1 phones and in both cases jailbreakme.com only crashes Safari . After downgrade to 1.0.2 und update to 1.1.1 again jailbreakme.com works fine on the first try.
It would be fine if the site's admin would make the files for jailbreak/activation available offline...

Ok now I have personally - jailbroken a 1.1.1 41 week and unlocked + upgrade to 1.1.2
- Jailbroken an ootb 1.1.2 46 week + upgrade to 1.1.2 (ipod touch for now)
- Jailbroken an ootb 1.1.2 47 week + upgrade to 1.1.2 (ipod touch for now)
I have been reading a little around the forums and this seems to be quite more of a popular problem then I had imagined.
This 3rd iphone did crash safari on me like to week 46 iphone but when I went back to contacts to open the new window it already started to show me the download progress. So I guess I got lucky with the first iphone, had bad luck with the second and it worked again for the third right away.
mibasora - sorry to hear your having problems with your jailbreak. You have been reading correctly and pressing the lower right button which opens the multiple windows viewer. If you have been doing it right (opening a new window before the second homepage starts to load on the first window) the second window you open should start to open allowing the first to finish it's download. That is what I make of it but others say it's a problem with the jailbreak as it's supposed to crash safari but just not that soon.
Here's something I found on another thread which may work as well but does the same thing I believe in a more complex way but hey it may work for you.
skidmark - glad this worked for you and thanks for the confirmation

jendol - I think your right as well about the connection and about how many people are trying to use that connection. Just glad it's still available for now as it's something we cannot save on disc (as far as I know)
I'll keep an eye out for this thread for the next couple of days for anyone who has questions just reply here or pm me but others have already posted links to this thread as I have too to help guide people with the same problem without rewriting everything out again.
Again thanks to all of you for the posts and keep up the good work as I would have been lost without these forums.
I had the same problem, also khrys instruction didnīt work.
Now i tried the last instruction of khrys
This worked now for one of my iphones.... I tried it on the other 2 and it somehow worked and jumped back to the "slide to emergency"... then it attemps to reboot and the apple logo appears... but then it gets stuck there.. nothing happens..

Click the first one, once safari crashes, return to contact and click the second. Works for me every time :s otherwise it sits on jailbreak me forever. Let me know if it works for ya :s
Just the apple logo with the "loading" sign appears....
Anyone an idea whats going on?
Sunriser - good to hear that atleast one iphone is unlocked of yours.
the double url instructions were taken from another thread as mention, from shiz1 as I believe credit should be given where credit is due.
As for the hang up of yours along the reboot I have never heard of yet from anyone trying either method. (yours is the first unfortunately)
I guess the questions that I ask are - What week and firmware do you have (can't check bootloader till it's jailbroken as far as I know)
- from your description it seems that you do get the completed download but the iphone hangs during the install/reboot sequence... is this correct
On my third iphone jailbreak I have gotten so familiar with the functions I am about to do that it of course failed on the first attempt and kicked me back to the opening screen (slide for emergency call) then I quickly (well out of habit) slid the bar, called 0, accept, pause, declined and hit contacts in about 5 seconds from the time it crashes safari and it then completed the download which of course reboots the iphone where you see the apple symbol and loads the necessary install.
I don't know wether it was the fast pace at which I tried to go back to the contacts to open the url or if it already started to finish the download from the first attempt.
So I guess you can try a faster reload on to the urls to help complete the download (always have done the second page opening very quickly from the crashing of the first to complete download) but like I said it's the first time I've heard of this problem from reading on just ootb 1.1.2 jailbreaking.
you've successfully unlocked 1/3 of your iphones which means you've followed the guides successfully and I'd assume you've already downgraded your firmware of each iphone to 1.1.1.
I havn't tried it yet but I was going to do what Rogoschin suggested.
After downgrade to 1.0.2 und update to 1.1.1 again jailbreakme.com works fine on the first try. (courtesy of Rogoschin)
Like I mentioned this was going to be one of the things I was going to try but never had to. Give it a try and let us know your results as this might helps others as well.
