(OOTB 1.1.2) Have I bricked it for good?
Gurus,
I attempted to unlock a previously jailbroken 1.1.2 iphone using the new software unlock and upgraded to 1.1.3 as per the guide. I then lost Tweaks 1.2 and Iworld, so I thought I would start over again from the beginning.
I restored my phone via itunes to 1.1.3 and now have issues. The phone stays in recovery mode and when I try to restore it to 1.1.1 firmware to commence the downgrading process I get an error "The iphone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1)"
Any ideas? The phone appears to stay in recovery mode until it eventually shuts down or if I restore it again to 1.1.3 firmware via itunes.
Hopefully the damage is not permanent. Assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

put the phone on dfu mode, and run ibrickr. click on begin downgrade to 1.0.2 it will ask you to restore on itunes by pressing shift+restore. then select the 1.1.2 firmware then i think you should know what's next.

Asma 123,
Ibrickr is a PC program only? I use a Mac, but can get access to a PC
Thanks

You could also restore to 1.1.3 via iTunes..after this is complete..you can download and run ZiPhone 2.0..links should be up above.
Run the GUI file..and selected...jailbreak, activate, and unlock.
After you start to run the GUI go into iTunes and hit the eject button in the bottom right to ensure the process goes through alright.
REMINDER: MAKE SURE it is in Verbose (debug mode) to make sure you know the process is going good or going bad..the process is VERY fast so be alert when staring at the coding process!
Good luck!

it feels good to know someone is having the same problem as me. i made the same stupid mistake, i had nice working unlocked phone via iClarified, and i decided to do that ziphone crap. now i've updated through itunes to 1.1.3. everytime i try to return to an earlier version i get the error mentioned above. why is it these upgrades work flawlessly for some and not for others.
can anyone out there help?

Thanks for the advice. I will try ziphone and report if successful. I understand your frustration EthanTaylor. If this phone had wings it would have flown out the window yesterday.
Question. Is ziphone both a PC and Mac application? If not a Mac app then I can access a PC, and if so do I need to have itunes loaded on the PC for this process?
Thanks again

hey putytat, thought i'd let you know this because we were in the same boat earlier. i did it mate, finally working. first followed asma123's idea which worked (thanks for that) i then restored my phone to 1.1.3 via itunes and used the latest version of Ziphone 2.1 after a couple of minutes crossing my fingers and praying hard, i finally get my phone back the way it only this time with a 1.1.3 firmware.
hope yours works mate, and remember comment sense sometimes provails, i'm no tech geek i simply used comment sense, and reading other people's post.

I found this somewhere in this forum, hope this will help if you don't know how to put your phone in DFU and explain why it's happen......

There is a difference between DFU and Restore mode.
While most people don't know it, this difference causes the "Error (1)" in iTunes trying to downgrade to 1.1.1 after accidentially updating to 1.1.3.
The big difference between DFU mode and restore mode?:
DFU mode doesn't boot up the "mac os" on iPhone - therefore it doesn't communicate with iTunes "as much" as in Restore mode and iTunes can't decide to interrupt downgrading the firmware etc.!!
The restore mode is the one everyone tells you to use (with iTunes icon etc. at the end) while DFU mode works this way:
1. Connect iPhone to Mac/PC - keep iTunes open
2. hold down power and home button
3. wait until red slider appears to shut down iPhone, keep holding down the buttons, count 4-5 seconds (while iPhone shuts down)
4. release power-button, keep home button pressed (there should be no Apple logo! If it appears, you waited too long to release the powerbutton - try again )
5. wait 5-10 seconds - iTunes should then prompt that there's an iPhone connected in "restore mode" - but it's different!
Now at this point even with iTunes 7.6 you can downgrade to 1.1.1. without errors.

Also, ZiPhone have version for Window and MAC, check Zibri website
http://www.ziphone.org/
Hope this helpp............
1.1.1 OTB -> 1.1.2 = 100%
