Default OOB 1.1.2 with "No Wi-Fi". Good news or bad news?

    Hi everybody,

I have an OOB 1.1.2 that has the "No Wi-Fi" message.

I have no idea how it happened, I received this phone from someone who asked me for help. He says he downgraded to 1.1.1 and jailbroke. He then wanted to update to 1.1.2 but the update froze and he disconnected the phone. The phone then kept restarting. He restored to 1.1.1 again, and ever since this point, the wifi has been showing "No Wi-Fi".

I've had this problem in the past with older versions when I used ieraser and didn't upload a new bb immediately afterwards. However, uploading a new bb (via a terminal program on the phone itself) fixed the problem.

The difference is that when I had the no wifi message on the older versions, there was also no firmware version listed and bluetooth was not available.

I was curious to see whether that was the case here (which would be good... I mean GREAT news, because it would mean that I would be able to write a new bb... I think), but it's not the same. I only have no wifi, but I DO have bb (04.02.13_G) and bluetooth.

I tried d/g and u/g in all directions possible, but no wifi in any of them. I tried ierasing (from the phone) without success (of-course). I tried unloading the CommCenter and then restoring. I tried unplugging the cord during the updating firmware part of the restore, but nada.

Anybody got any idea? Has anybody seen this before? Could this in fact be good news like my first instinct that something in the bb actually DID get erased somehow, and would mean we could try to recreate the same situation to allow us to write another bb?

    Your thoughts and help appreciated.

    Thanks.

I don't know whether it is good news or bad news or meaningless but what I really believe is that we cannot be able to write a baseband on this OOTB 1.1.2 phones. Because we need to "pass" the bootloader with a valid signature. Since the secpack of any firmware we have does not include such a valid signature, there in no way of writing something new on these phones.

That is the result I deduced from all these threads that I have been reading for many days...

Did you try restore-ing in 1.1.2 maybe itll work because there is a thread here with the same problem but when he update-s or restores to 1.1.2 wifi works.

    EDIT: Heres the thread: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18864

I tried this many times. I get OkToPrep on 1.0.2, and then update to 1.1.2, but I still don't have WiFi... Please help someone?

    Thanks.
