My installer.app is pooping out on me. it starts up and quits, taking me back to the dock meny everytime. Plus i've got loads of other stuff i don't need. My idea was to do a restore through itunes, but when i do it doesnt give me the option of restoring it to 1.1.1. it says it will restore and automatically update the firmware to 1.1.3! (oh, how nice of you!).
is there any way to do a system restore and KEEP the same firmware?

when you press the restore button, make sure you are pressing the Shift key. That way you can select which firmware you want to restore to.

Did you recently update Installer to the new version?
Mine started to do this, I worked out that it had ran out of space while installing. If you FTP to your phone, delete some of your installed apps from the Applications folder on the iPhone manually.
Then download Installer on your computer, and copy it into the Applications folder replacing the incomplete version. You can download Installer from here:

That got Installer running happily again.
