there have bben reports that the current bb is incompatible with 1.1.1, so that may be a reason as to why you were not getting any signal.

if you did not downgrade the bb then could you please downgrade it now and post the results.
Why would I be THAT dumb to downgrade my baseband?
For me, FW 1.1.1 is history...just a way to install the oktoprep patch for 1.1.2 jailbreak. I would never downgrade the baseband. I have another 4(!) US iPhones FULLY UNLOCKED with FW 1.1.2 and the 4.02.13_G baseband, I'm happy I have them and would never downgrade.

Also don't forget that my officially unlocked T-Mobile iPhone has bootloader 4.6 instead of the 3.9 bootloader which came with the 1.1.1 and lower iPhones.

If someone still has issues updating a 1.1.1/4.01.xx baseband iPhone to 1.1.2, here is the description in a couple of simple steps (it works!). Please KEEP IN MIND that I assume that I don't have to explain that it is MANDATORY that you use the MANUAL update/downgrade and how the manual update/downgrade using iTunes and SHIFT/ALT (depending on OS) actually works, so here is the description for people who have an IQ slightly above a german shepherd dog (if you have to ask questions, you're below that IQ level or you're a lazy biatch who doesn't want to READ ):

    1. update your 1.1.1/4.01.xx iPhone to 1.1.2. This updates the baseband to 4.02.13_G and erases the AnySIM unlock (if you had one with 1.1.1). DO NOT jailbreak or install the Oktoprep patch with 1.1.1, there is no need to do that!
    2. downgrade to 1.1.1 (put your iPhone into recovery mode)
    3. you get a 1015 error message after the downgrade has finished
    4. connect the iPhone to iBrickr 0.91 (Windows) or INDependence 1.3 b2 (OSX) and choose "boot the iPhone" in iBrickr (display on iPhone should turn red, WAIT until it reboots and shows the Activation screen!) or just wait and don't do ANYTHING with INDependence until the iPhone shows the activation screen.
(I assume that you know how to make sure iTunesHelper isn't running in the background during this, same applies for iTunes itself)
    5. if iBrickr or (more likely) INDependence don't recognize your iPhone, just start iTunes once and close it again
    6. after the activation screen appears, use the well known *#307#... method to jailbreak/activate the iPhone and after having access to the Installer, install the Oktoprep patch first.
    7. install the BSD Subsystem and then OpenSSH (you may need to add Community Sources first to access the two).
    8. add a repo to the Installer sources which includes the AnySIM 1.2.1u (it has to be THIS one, DO NOT use if it say AnySIM or AnySIM 1.2 only) app.
    9. to make sure you find a source, add http://ride4.org/shai.xml to the sources in Installer
    10. when you check out the available App Groups in Installer (Install), go to SOURCES and install all available sources. Repeat that again after you do this to make sure you install all available repos
    11. after finishing installing all available sources, go to ALL PACKAGES and look for the AnySIM 1.2.1u app.
    12. install AnySIM 1.2.1u app
    13. start AnySIM 1.2.1u app and make sure your iPhone is fully charged (or connected to a power source). Also make sure the SIM card you want to use with the unlock is inside the SIM tray.
    14. AnySIM 1.2.1u should finish with a success report ("your iPhone has been succesfully unlocked" or similar)
    15. after restarting the iPhone, it very likely shows No Service or anything, the unlock doesn't work (yet)
    16. start Installer again and make sure you installed the Oktoprep patch (look at "UNINSTALL", if the Oktoprep is there, you're good to go).
    17. UPDATE (it is crucial that you understand that you need to UPDATE, NOT recover) your iPhone with 1.1.2 (just connect iPhone to iTunes, iTunes recognizes it and wants to recover from a backup or set up a new iPhone, just get past it (DO NOT use the recover from a backup) and you'll have the option to UPDATE to 1.1.2.
    18. when the update to 1.1.2 finishes, you'll see the activation screen (it looks different like with 1.1.1 but you already know that from the first 1.1.2 update step).
    19. use the latest Java Jailbreak utility (Windows or OSX) to jailbreak/activate iPhone. If you get an error (Oktoprep not applied for example, WAIT, DO NOT INTERRUPT), despite the error the jailbreak may work (watch the screen and look if you see something happening and shortly afterwards a bunch of numbers showing up and scrolling down). If it doesn't work, start it again and again. If it still doesn't work, run iTunes once for a couple of seconds and exit it (make sure iTunesHelper doesn't run in the background!). Try again the Java jailbreak utility, it should work.
    20. after the Java utility jailbreak, you need to reboot your iPhone once, then your iPhone will reboot automatically another time and you're done.
    21. if everything went right (and it should if you followed the above instructions and have a little brain under your skull), you'll see a signal and very likely the carrier of your SIM card.

The iPhone is now FULLY unlocked and working with the new baseband.
YouTube should work too, just make sure you adjust the EDGE settings for your carrier and your WiFi settings.

If you have IPSF installed on your 1.1.1 iPhone, this method will NOT work, so don't bother. I won't give any hints regarding iPSF, sorry.

CAUTION: if you don't follow the above instructions STEP BY STEP very precisely, it won't work. PLEASE DO NOT ask questions, everything has been already said and you can find DOZENDS of threads related to this issue. The unlock method described above has worked on 5(!) US iPhones with bootloader 3.9 so far, so it should work just fine.

    - step 8. add the following source to installer: http://rep.frenchiphone.com. you will find anySIM 1.2.1u under frenchiphone.com afterwards

    1. we have reports of failed AnySIM 1.2.1u if BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH aren't installed, we can't explain it (yet). So the blame is on you if something goes wrong.

    2. usually, AnySIM 1.2.1u is found under frenchiphone repo BUT by adding many more sources, you avoid a panic if the package doesn't install (sometimes you get an install error) or if a source isn't available temporarily

Again: I tried to explain a FOOLPROOF method which helps to avoid weird situations, everything else has been already explained by many other threads.

wow people are so ....... 997 posted the easiest and yet simplest way of updating and ppl are saying we dont need this we dont need that... yes u r right we might not need bsd subsystem.. however on 2 phones that ive unlocked out of about 13 need bsd subsystem... however on mine i actually never had to downgrade to 1.1.1 i just applied anysim 1.2.1u in airplane mode.. however since these are dummy instructions i would not suggest doing what i did..and just follow these...

997.... chances are the reason that 1.1.1 didnt work and showed no service is because the new baseband isnt actually compatible with 1.1.1 ... but i could be wrong...
and one more thing... after your update back to 1.1.2 did you use itunes to activate the phone or did you put that lockdown file to bypass the activation.. because if you have used itunes then instead of activating it just says the phone is unlocked ... but it couldve been unlocked prior to that and in fact it is a permament unlock..it would be nice to see someone who alredy has an official tmobile unlocked phone to redo the same procedure but shh in and put the lockdwon file.. but if not then no problem.. its no biggie since i know how long and how much of a pain it is to down and reupdate the phone..

    i was remembering this thread:

    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...ight=subsystem

and took it as an "official info" which it obviously not was.

btw: i used this method for A LOT of iPhone without ever the need of bsd and open ssh,

    BUT

i ran anySIM 1.2.1u ONCE on 1.0.2 and it totally messed up my baseband. so maybe the error reports refer to using it on 1.0.2?

does the contract say anything about moving to other countries and still be able to keep the unlock or get that phone unlocked? like if you move to U...wonder if the unlocking is server country based.

Now if you are able to change the IMEI and serial number to one that has already been unlocked, then theorectially you'd be able to unlock a number of phones that way, but in Europe you'd end up having that imei black listed. But what if you did the above mention procedure and then changed the IMEI back to it's orginal state...could that work? Also, has anyone been able to dump the baseband and bootloader of an unlocked 4.6?
The unlock code must be generated based on the IMEI. It's supposed to check the validity.

I just unlocked 2 1.1.2 upgraded from 1.1.1 without installing BSD Subsystem.
