Why should they? There are no officially unlocked iPhones sold in the US. :p

two quick questions:
- so you are now on a 1.1.2 officially unlocked AND jailbroken device with 3rd party apps working? so the downgrading/oktoprep/upgrading does not harm the unlock? (-> if there is anything different from the usual way to do a short guide will be highly appreciated!)
- why do you need to reset after swapping sims? i can swap sims without problems.
You should re-read my little experience FAQ, actually all your answers are there.
Anyway, here we go again:
1. you need to UNLOCK using iTunes again after EACH and EVERY Firmware down- or upgrade. The unlock is ERASED with a firmware down- or upgrade, so you need to unlock again using iTunes 7.5 or higher (piece of cake, takes a couple of seconds.). The unlock works only with 1.1.2 (and I suppose higher FW versions), it does NOT work with 1.1.1 or lower (activation works and iTunes shows the "succesfully unlocked" message but you have no service with a non-approved carrier SIM card).
2. you do NOT NEED to reset after swapping SIM cards, it is ONLY recommended.
The reason is simple: when you switch SIM cards and you don't reset the settings, the iPhone may use the network settings (EDGE, GPRS) of the other SIM card, resulting in some odd behaviour. It is also very likely that if you're running the iPhone on an "official" carrier with an iPhone contract SIM, the EDGE setting which is invisible will stay that way if you don't reset. Another problem is when you're using a SIM from a non-supported carrier and you switch back to your iPhone official contract SIM, Visual Voicemail and the carrier service numbers/menues may not appear.
To make it short: just reset the settings (NOT including the content) after each SIM card swap, the iPhone automatically reboots and everything should work fine. This is no big deal and it takes only 30 seconds or so. You just need to re-adjust sound volume, brightness, adapt EDGE settings (you need to do that anyway when you switch SIM cards) and WiFi setting.

Anyway, if we are not sure, would this straightforward unlock approach be worth a try ?
All I can say (for now
) is that after the unlock, a new .plist file appeared on my iPhone.

I replied to all your questions. I don't know if we have a language problem here but everything has been said. Not sure what else you want to know, I may try to draw you a picture regarding this stuff but trust me, my drawing skills are awful. :p

hi 997TT,
when you downgraded to 1.1.1 did you also downgrade the bb??
there have bben reports that the current bb is incompatible with 1.1.1, so that may be a reason as to why you were not getting any signal.
if you did not downgrade the bb then could you please downgrade it now and post the results.

there is no reason to downgrade the baseband because you need only to downgrade for the jailbreak preparation (->oktoprep) and upgrade back to 1.1.2.
so you will have a working 1.1.2 with newest baseband. there is actually no reason to stick with 1.1.1.
