Hi All,
I've downloaded Itune free version & connected my Iphone to my PC (Windows XP SP 2) & its shows only camera as other drive. After that i've tried to copy my Itune playlist to Iphone but nothing has happened. The Itune is showing that
there is a new version of Iphone software which is about 160 MB, & i downloaded & its installed automatically to Iphone now I don't know if it is firmware or anything alse.

After that i've decided to register my iphone & I've insercted my AT&T SIM card (although in India there is no AT & T service) i've subscribe the monthly plan for AT & T service & filled the other info., but now it asked me to fill the Credit Card details & othe info for Itune store, & i definetly don't want to purchase the Itune songs & ringtones, so i stopped the regd. process.

Then the problem creates, my Iphone gets locked & now its showing only the Itune Icone & the Cable Icon & on that its showing my IMEI & ICCID number... so what is ICCID number? now i can't access my Iphone, no welcome screens, no
other Icons... just the below slider icon for emergency calls... nothing else. Also I've removed the AT & T SIM & put my regular SIM but it won;t worked. I'm really upset with Iphone... Can any one help me to unlock my Iphone?

Its not working for me. I've tried that one also but its still showing ATT sim problem... can't open iNdependence_v1.3.1.dmg...

No offence buddy,
try to find some one who will unlock this for you (will cost you 50-100 $)
the other option for you is to sell your iphone ,cause the next time apple update there software you might again face this problem(pm me if you are intrested )
now before you get angry let me point out one thing for you...
you just tried running an Apple OSX file on your Windows PC.
if you still want to go ahead and fix your prob... go into the guide and tutorial section of this forum and learn how to "unlock your iphone"
you will also need to "verginize" your iphone (not sure about that ,read about that to)

but seriously man, this thing is way out of your league

It is obvious that the threads haven't been read. If you don't know the difference between Mac and PC software , then its best left to someone who does. The is very detailed instructions here to assist if you are brave or foolish enough to attempt the process. But through attempt and failure is the only way to learn

So far to my understanding, I will point out what you did ( and unfortunately what you did wrong )

You upgraded your phone while it's still unlocked (exactly what Apple Inc. wanted you to do). Might I warn you never do that again.

As for the Independence (also spelt iNdependence), it is a Mac OS X app, for more info you can wiki "Mac OS X", which is a different operating system entirely. Filetypes like ".dmg" are for opening disk images for mac, like your ".iso"s on your PCs

Remedy for your iNdependence problem: if you stay in the iPhone community longer, you might get to know things, for instance, the "iDemocracy" program that you can use.(google it up.)

For your iTunes + cable icon, it's your recovery icon. You've seemingly wrecked the software

Assuming your iPhone is not a Out of The Box (OTB) 1.1.2, you can follow these steps.
And I hope you did not press the upgrade button after Nov.7, cuz it makes things harder. If you did, reply to this message and contact me. (kelvinky.ho@gmail.com)

1.Restore your iPhone to 1.1.1 by entering into DFU mode

to enter DFU mode,

plug in your cable

press the lock screen+home buttons (the top and the other one on the bottom of the screen) for 10 sec, release the lock screen button BEFORE THE SCREEN LIGHTS UP

do not release the home button until iTunes says "iTunes detected an iPhone in restore mode"

Make sure you have the 1.1.1 ispw file

You can download it here.
DO NOT UNZIP IT OR ATTEMPT TO OPEN IT.

alt-click (option-click for mac) "Restore", and choose the file for 1.1.1
let it complete. (if your upgraded firmware is 1.1.2 it will show an error. ignore it)

NOTE: IF YOUR iPhone's SCREEN IS LIT, YOU ARE NOT IN DFU MODE

2. Open iNdependence or AppTapInstaller.exe

You might like to try iDemocracy. tell me the results. ( does it kick your screen out of the restore mode after opening the program)
note: ApptappInstaller.exe should fail, but it should also bring you an activation screen.
Note: I've never tried apptappinstaller since I used the Mac method

3. Jailbreaking and installing AppTapp

follow this tutorial

4. AnySIM and other apps... they should work if your phone is not an 1.1.2 OTB

why i unlocked etc my 102 i messed up and it took me days to repair(i almost sold it), and get sorted, it was the last attempt beore i got it, if i didnt get it that time i was gone sell it

permissons, this guide, that guide, firmware, baseband, id never heard of it before,

it did teach me alot, and most of all not to dive in! but it does teach you alot, i certainly learnt from my mistake!

As a supplement to my previous post...

if your iPhone is a 1.1.2 OTB you can jailbreak it ( meaning you can use all functions except phone and cellular functions)
You can check:
by reading your serial number
887YYQ9WWH9
if YY = or > 45 your phone is an 1.1.2 OTB

I'm not sure if your upgrading to 1.1.2 also erased the baseband, so do not expect my solution to work



Other points I suggest you read, but is not relevant to unlocking the iPhone

Making an iTunes account does not require you to pay, nor does it require you buy songs (but you have to give them your credit card anyway).

on the other hand AT&T requires you to give them your credit card so they can rip you off.

and I suggest you to read what something requires before you buy it. (for the iPhone, it says that you need a 2year contract with AT&T)
