Okay guys, my latest update,
after much searching through forums, i set out to downgrade my 1.1.1 phone to 1.0.2. I was very optimistic that this would solve my problems but after the gruelling process, much to my shock and dismay, am now at a 1.0.2 iphone with the 03.14.08_g baseband still showing 'No service'.
Am absolutely clueless as to what to do now as i do not want to dismiss it as a hardware failure.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, I'll try to keep my phone on 1.0.2 for the next couple of days, then will go back to 1.1.1.
Anyways, below are the links of the main sites i used for the entire downgrading process:
Hello, I've been away for a couple of days, we'll try the options you guys suggested and get back asap
I have the same problem! I downgrade my iPhone to 1.0.2 an virginze it!
I have here now 2 iphones
1. - 1.0.2 - it is virginized
2. - 1.0.2 - it is new
the think is, when I'm in the Activation screen and call 911 the telephone connect me with 911 that is the complete new iphone, but when I'm doing it with the virginized iPhone I get only a "Failed Call"
there must be something wrong with the baseband or not?
Sorry for my bad english(((
see the link
a section in it says,
"My guess is that this is a known bug or flaw.
I upgraded to 1.1.2, and wacky stuff started happening. It MAY have been coincidence, but it seemed almost TOO coincidental.
I eventually took my iPhone to the Apple Store, and after trying all the stuff I had already tried, the Genius asked me if I ever got "No Service" alerts.I HAD gotten them - but not to the extent that it seemed like an issue.
I told him yes, and then they replaced my iPhone.
Anyway - make a genius appointment. I bet they'll swap it out.
Best of luck!! "

But I still have some hope, maybe something or the other will work out for us guys,
Anyways, Have some exams so won't be able to tinker with my iphone a lot, will see about it after them.
so the new phone seems to be working fine then? Have you unlocked it yet?
I too believe the 'no service' has got to do something with a corrupted baseband only(if it's not a hardware issue that is).
Anyways, i too tried calling the emergency numbers, but here in India none of the emergency cell numbers work in my area, tried both 112 and 911 on my nokia cell, both the calls failed.
And alwynp, what your status? anything worked?
as you are on 1.0.2, you might want to try these steps,
not sure if this is the right thread or not but i have a question regards no service. When i put a new sim in the phone it was switched off - i turned it on, then for about 30secs it came up with no service. I went into settings and it had no carrier settings or anything listed just wifi etc. I went back to home screen then within seconds my signal re appeared. I went back into settings and sure enough carrier option was back. Is this normal? thanks guys
I think it's normal, actually when i put the AT&T sim that came with my phone, it never shows 'carrier' in settings, However when i put my other local Indian sims, they do show 'carrier' even if the phone is displaying 'no service'.
Anyways i think if the phone shows signals and is not erratic, i don't think there is much to worry, the 'carrier' setting might not have appeared as the phone was still initializing.
While trying to unload CommCenter, I get the message
'No such process'
So I tried loading it and I got
'nothing found to load'
I went ahead and used ieraser and bbupdate, and successfully got the bb down to 03.14.08_G
And then tried loading the CommCenter, and am getting nothing found to load
grrrr.........Perhaps I did not need to downgrade by bb, I appear to have a problem with the CommCenter not being loaded
After some time, I tried loading and unloading the commcenter with -w switch, and it did not give any error on the commandline. So I assume it reloaded the commcenter. I then tried unloading and reloading it with or without -w switch and it is not giving any errors.
So I have a load commcenter and a 3.14 baseband.
I restarted my phone with my local idea carrier SIM, and I got the message
"Incorrect SIM" "The iPhone must be used with an approved SIM"
Should I just go ahead and try an unlockprocedure? like running anysim 1.0.1? or should I first downgrade firmware to 1.0.2, then restore to 1.1.1 and then run the entire unlocking process like carnaval or juanpa's tutorial?
