i bought a new iphone with 1.1.2

its been downgraded to 1.1.1 and then jailbroken with jailbreakme.com

in the network area, i get no service? why?

do i need to unlock?

im using an o2 sim, just not the one apple intended

Jailbreak does not equal to unlock...so although you can now write files to your UK iPhone, the phone remains locked. You will need to download Anysim (from any repository) and run it on your 1.1.1.

Thereafter, you will then be able to use it on any network/sim.

You have the o2 card which came with the contract in it and have a contract with the iphone?

fw 1.1.1 can handle bb 04.01.13_g

You must downgrade to 1.0.2 since the 1.1.2 baseband is incompatible with 1.1.1

That's easy. Downgrade your iPhone to 1.0.2
Than, flash the baseband to 03.14.08_G,

after all, upgrade to iPhone 1.1.1

i may use it as an ipod touch until a unlock solution is released... anySim 1.2 says dont use with OTB 1.1.2

i know jailbreak does not equal unlock, but i was told that an o2 sim will mean the iphone does not need to be unlocked

when i want to upgrade my firmware, what do i do?
revirginise it? and does/can that also include baseband?

or keep the hacked lockdownd from 1.02 put in 1.1.1 but in this case u wont be able to sync with itunes if u need to sync replace blablabla

i didnt want to downgrade
i wanted to simply use it, and afaik, the only current released way to do that is to downgrade...
ill have a look at the guide once you post it, i cant find any decent ways to easily downgrade the baseband on a mac, all guides i know of are on a pc
as youre testing is done a mac, i hope the guide is as well

As far as I know this is as far as you can go at the moment.

UK phones have different bits compared to USA phone so while some people have managed to unlock 1.1.2 phone they all appear to be USA phones

No UK phone has been sim unlocked at this time (unless somebody knows different)
