    Default No Service

Can a moderator or other senior member pleas post a link or other info on a definitive guide for the No service Issue.

I'v unlocked phones using the dev team manual guide. After using Erica's unlock app, I get the "No Service" I have searched high and low for a definitive guide on this issue, but they appear incomplete, or inaccurate.

I unloaded CommCenter.plist and tried to bbupdate -e ICE03.14.08_G.eep which resulted in a 'Baseband bootloader is too old, ujpdate to 1.8'

Using this guide http://www.djjeffa.com/vb/showthread.php?p=100869, I tried to bbupdater -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls and got failed to op[en or read the FLS file.

I don;t understand why ericas app did not work and the phone appears to be unlocked. Can someone explain or point to useful steps to investigate this. If i receive a workable solution, i will be sure to post my effort for others to learn or follow. Too many of us appear to be muddling through and not posting results or steps.

    thanks in advance.
Will responders please post accurate links and/or give complete information. If this is a duplicated thread I apologise to the moderator

I purchased the phone and verified version (*3001#12345#*). It was never connected to itunes and I know not to upgrade to 1.1.1 and try to downgrade etc.
It was a virgin phone with 1.02.

    DeeDeeDee.

ulctl - sure I'll try it if i can find the file, any useful information on it and some instructions. Are you just quoting from memory or can you give a link. In the meanwhile i'll scour the forums for it.

with regards the RED link, please expand upon this. As I said in my post, if there is a workable solution, I'll post detailed steps for all those having a similar problem with the history to my own.

ULctl is just a method of starting and stopping services which presumably was recommended to unload CommCenter which is normally done with ssh and unload.

Unless ULctl performs other services, like bbupdater, i don't think it will help with the first or second error. When i get time I'll a look at the app.

    I finally followed these steps.

    1. Downloaded the latest 1.02 firmware.
    2. Restored through Itunes and pointed to the previously downloaded software in 1 by holding the option key (mac) alt key(pc) whilst selecting 'restore' in itunes.
    3. Re-activated the phone using independence
    4. Installed apptap and subsequently Community sources, DNS tools, BSD subsytem, openssh
    5. Followed the guide posted here from part 1 to the end. http://modmyiphone.com/wiki/index.ph...ck_OS_X_Part_1

The phone unlocked successfully. This guide is comprehensive and easy to follow with links to all the required files. I've unlocked phones with various methods and varying degrees of success. This was the easiest.

    Two issues remain
    a) voicemail button does not work and after trying minicom I got an error concerning a default file and was unable to save the dev/tty.baseband profile, probably because of a write access problem. I'll have to look into that. This means I am unable to enter the AT+CSVM=1 command to point to the correct phone number. *5005*86* didn't work either interestingly enough.

    b) cannot activate edge even after double checking APN settings in general/network/edge. Not sure what is going on here either but i'll post what i find if anything.

Voicemail can be fixed easier then using minicom.

Concerning edge, check with your carrier if mobile internet is activated on your account or not. And if you got the correct APN. If all wa correct, maybe a proxy is needed. Search the forum for edge proxy.
