Default No refurbished iPhones since unlocking started?

I have tried to catch a refurbished iPhone, but they are out of stock in Apple website since the free unlocking method was released three months ago. I have checked Apple online store almost every day with no luck.
I suspect that a lot of returns were previously unlocked phones and probably the process of returning them to their default factory state is not trivial.
    What do you think?

Refurbs were sold as late as last week on the Apple site. You were just not lucky enough to catch them....

    Angry bad news everyone

i just got a 4gb certified refurbished thinking i was gonna get the right bootloader and simply unlock it but tough luck. apple is now loading refurbished phones with the 4.6 bootloader. I was brave enough to call apple to comfirm this and they said all their phones be it refurbished or new ship with the same firmware and bootloader as the new 8gb. so now i'm just as stuck as anyone waiting around with a thicked ipod touch
