Default No more officially unlocked iPhones in Germany!

The court ruled: the T-Mobile Germany/Apple marketing model for the iPhone is legal, T-Mobile can continue selling locked iPhones.

Starting NOW, T-Mobile apparently has stopped selling unlocked iPhones in Germany.

Important note for those who bought one: according to a reliable source, T-Mobile/Apple DO NOT have any plans to re-lock the already officially unlocked iPhones. Meaning: customers who bought an unlocked T-Mobile iPhone can be happy, the unlock will be renewed with every firmware update/recovery, the IMEI stays "flagged" as UNLOCKED.

Probably a good idea - if I spent a thousand euro or whatever it is on a phone and it was relocked out from under me I may get a little, erm, perturbed.

Of course they can't relock it. Otherwise they would have misrepresented the product to you and you'd have legal recourse for breach of the contract of sale.

It would have been nice if T-Mo and Apple instead of going back to their original agreement would have instead done something similar to Orange in France. Not that it would affect me as I live in the UK, but maybe the unlock fever would catch on and Apple would offer similar schemes in the UK and elsewhere (i know, yea right, but one can dream). Cheers.

that is not the case. it is for the customers that bought it with the t-mobile-plan and unlocked it also from apple (that was possible for people who bought phones from 9.11-13.11). they have t-mobile, payed 399,- euros and are unlocked.

    greetings
