    It looks like Apple may release a new version of its firmware next week, we have an idea of what it contains and are hopeful this will help to complete the full unlock process for all 1.1.2 out of the box
    ok, so that's 100% bullshit, unless this guy shows us his crystal ball.

    It does require a new baseband

    So why should apple update the baseband
    Is the baseband and the bootloader not the same thing, i.e. Baseband Bootloader (BB)?

    This is very valid. However maybe O2 need to turn up the transmission power! I have see iphones working in Ireland on the O2 and Vodafone networks, with very good reception. I suspect that there maybe a fix for this at the carrier end. Also we have to remember that the iphone has been in the states since June, so if it was a handset issue, then I would have expected to have seen something by now!

    Does these not disguise the SIM card i.e. makes the iphone think its working with an AT&T, O2, T-Mobile or Orange sim?
    My understanding is that in order to use one of these, you need to the original card, and its details

    I really hope I am proven wrong, but I can't see Apple fixing something that is not broken in their eyes.

    BB = BaseBand
    BL = BootLoader

    Hi everyone!
    There's a possibility that I can buy an iphone v.1.1.2, but I could use him allready as an ipod touch. Is this causing any problems for the unlocking the 1.1.2? Can someone guarantee me that there will come an unlock solution for the v. 1.1.2?

    nothing is gaurenteed, but u have to jailbreak (make it an touch) the iphone to perform the unlock anyway. So you should be pretty safe

    If you invest in a Turbosim or similar product, then you can use all functions on the iphone (provided its jailbroken) with the exception of Visual Voice Mail

    There is a lot of reports of such products working in 1.1.2 OTB iphones. It does add an extra cost however.
