Question New International Keyboard Dictionaries included with 1.1.1--how to use them?

so I was rummaging around in the new 1.1.1 file system and in /System/Library/ there is a folder called KeyboardDictionaries and inside that are the following filed:

    de_DE-one-letter-words.dat en_US-one-letter-words.dat
    de_DE-stems.dat en_US-stems.dat
    de_DE-two-letter-words.dat en_US-two-letter-words.dat
    de_DE-unigrams.dat en_US-unigrams.dat
    de_DE-unigrams.idx en_US-unigrams.idx
    en_GB-one-letter-words.dat fr_FR-one-letter-words.dat
    en_GB-stems.dat fr_FR-stems.dat
    en_GB-two-letter-words.dat fr_FR-two-letter-words.dat
    en_GB-unigrams.dat fr_FR-unigrams.dat
    en_GB-unigrams.idx fr_FR-unigrams.idx

DE I know is German and the others are self explanatory...so, how do I use these? Any ideas?

I also noticed on the USA, UK, and German iPhone "Techspec" websites the following:

    Display
    3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display
    480-by-320-pixel resolution at 163 ppi
Support for display of multiple languages and characters simultaneously

The German website has the same thing, except in German. Also of note, the German iPhone pictures do indeed has a complete German interface.

So what gives? When apple says that the display SUPPORTS multiple languages, does that mean in the future or what. I'm a bi-lingual English/German speaker and would love to have a German-outfitted iPhone that was actually developed and is supported by Apple. Maybe I'll just have to wait until Nov. 9.

This may very well be the case but 1) pictures of the 1.1.1 iPhones unveiled at the UK announcement clearly had international keyboard support enabled and 2) the iPod touch with 1.1.1 also supports international keyboards. Therefore, my guess is that there is a flag in some plist buried somewhere that enables this. I have no idea where unfortunately...

    For all Germans:

    dragon-tmd,

Does all of this take place within the KeyboardDictionaries folder? And when you say copy the de_DE files to en_US, do you mean make copies of all of the de_DE files and then rename them to en_US?

    Thanks.

The native way to use them is to edit M68AP.plist:
    <key>international</key>
    <false/>

...just set "false" to "true" and a new setting will show up under Settings > General > Keyboard
